Does this luxury SUV actually impress anyone?

The long daytime running lamps on the front are super obnoxious, so you can't miss seeing them from a mile away. And it's not "rappers" buying them, all I see are UMC white people driving them, often soccer moms, often elderly pensioners.

A full spec Tahoe and Yukon are just as good, far less tacky, and probably $20,000 less. So why are people buying these? I'm not against gas guzzlers or large SUVs and totally get people who may be drawn to an American assembled car (I think these are made in Texas), but I really just don't see how this thing is so popular.

Funny. I had one of these huge things aggressively tailgating me today. Made me think of this thread.

Killing the earth but maybe the mommies will like them more, they hope.

I am darkly amused by this discussion by suv drivers about how their Suv is less tacky than those other suvs. They all look the same, lady. They are all tacky. They are all too big. And you don't need the third row. And I don't care about travel soccer.

Gross old man car. What kind of loser drives this car?

i rode in a Cadi once in my life - back in the 70s. It was a friend's dad, he was a real estate salesman - the kind who wore white shoes.

All I remember is that it was the most comfortable car I had ever been in. The backseat felt like riding on the back of big tick. (i was a little high at the time.) True story though.

I drove a friends Escalade up north for a few hours years ago and was surprised at the number of looks I got. I owned a sports car at the time that was yellow and that didn’t get close to the amount of looks the Escalade got. I’m sure they were disappointed to see who was actually driving but the SUV was definitely turning heads.

Clever UMC and rich do not give a flying f*** that these gigantic rigs cost $80K or $90K or $100K plus because they are driving them for practically free.

Section 179 requires a 6K weight minimum. It's kinda disgusting that we incentivize these rolling lards.

If the driver is older than 60, I assume they’re just a successful boomer who grew up when Cadillac meant something.

If the driver is an older millenial or gen X, I assume they’re unsophisticated and tacky, likely state school educated.

Don’t feed the troll people.

That's hardly a troll. Find me an Ivy Leaguer who drives a tacky a** Cadillac. These huge things sell to Black car taxi services in major cities and in Texas, Florida, and the Midwest to ostentatious state schoolers living in McMansions.

It’s honestly hilarious that the hypocrisy never occurs to you “Ivy Leaguers” in these threads.

I also think plebs don't realize just how many paper pushing freeloaders get a $1,000/month vehicle allowance.

These things go in cycles. Escalade was just redesigned, so it'll be the "it" showy truck for the next 12-24 months. Then it'll inevitably fade in popularity because those who can afford this class of vehicle want both the latest and greatest and do not want to be in the same truck poorer people just picked up off lease on the used market for 40% off MSRP. The all new Range Rover and refreshed Lincoln Navigator will sap the Escalade's current hype by 2022.

Range Rover drivers prioritise safety, while their elevated driving position indicates they want people to think they have a high social status.

Was tailgated by one of these today.
