No that is not possible. According to the great minds of this website no one could ever win using the US system. And, at the same time, the US must be ashamed of only winning a bronze medal, because the US can only win Gold. |
Competition is improving with Europe starting to take women's soccer more seriously. We lost to both Canada (in a close game) and to Sweden in a blow out. We also struggled against the Netherlands, but won in a close game. Other teams are getting stronger, while our golden generation has aged. |
Yes. USWOT lost to the gold and silver medal teams. USWOT took the bronze. Thanks Captain Obvious. |
They were also extremely lucky to even medal as Netherlands was mostly better in the quarterfinal. They also nearly lost to Spain in the Round of 16 in the World Cup in 2019. Margins are much smaller right now compared to previous years and the team is going to need a rebuild. There is a ton of talent coming up so it isn't like this team will fall apart but definitely some uncertainty heading toward 2023. |
Agreed. They were very lucky to medal. They did not look convincing throughout the tournament and the Netherlands should have won that game. Except for Lloyd, none of the veteran players looked hungry to win. |
| So explain how Canada looked convincing to win? And, how you determine if a player looks hungry. |
Salivation. Plus, being deathly thin. |
