For our women's team it may not be terrible but it is not an accomplishment.

That comment didn’t age well.

Why not? How many Olympic medals have you won?

Either did they. Guess they finally showed up a game too late? How about scoring in a game that matters? If they had left those two at home they would have won the gold.

Rapinoe and Lloyed are 36 and 39. Beating Australia by one goal does not turn the clock back. Neither one should be on the roster by the time the next WC arrives.

I think Ertz was the biggest disappointment. I completely forgot she was on the field today.

Ertz is the least of our problems. She has not fully recovered from injury so I would not be too hard on her. Our big problem is our best attacking players have aged.

If you saw video of her rehab, you’d be surprised she was on the field at all.

I can not believe we did not have any younger players capable of stepping up. Olympic soccer is not a really that competitive.

No matter what you think of Rapinoe her two goals today were beautiful. Yes the first one should have been saved but it’s not that easy to put a corner on frame. And her second goal was a screamer. I think she’s aged out now from the Uswnt but she’s scored or assisted on the biggest stages and she should be extremely proud of the career she had. That assist to Wambach in stoppage time of overtime against Brazil is easily my favorite moment in sports.

If you watch a lot of soccer and understand the game Rapinoe is very disruptive to the team. She is slow, defenders do not fear her when she has the ball, she is out of position, does not track down or player defense, has no off the ball movement, consistently turns the ball over and seems uninterested when she does not have the ball. Rapinoe is one of the reason the team plays so poorly against better teams. Other players have to cover for her- Dunn. When Rapinoe is on the filed the US is playing a man down. She was this way in the last World Cup also. At her best she was a role player surrounded be very talented players. It is criminal she took the gold boot from Morgan.

I agree with you re Rapinoe, but I think PP was simply pointing out that Rapinoe scored two good quality goals against Australia and had an important assist against Brazil 10 years ago. We can thank her for her past accomplishments and focus on younger players who give us a better chance to win and hopefully bring a lot less drama off the field.

I have won the same number of Olympic medals as you. For a team that won the last World Cup and being ranked 1st in the world coming up 3rd in the Olympics is a disappointment, not an accomplishment based on the standards they have set for themselves.

So help me out here Is the US women's team doomed to a life of despair and misery forever, because here in the US we do not pick or train our women's sides like they do in Canada?

Are you not saying that the US should always be number 1? How can that be if our system is such that it is way worse than any used in Europe or Canada? Explain please.

Canada uses the US college system for years 17-22
