Why is Glenn Youngkin lying?

And he averaged ONE point a game at Rice. ONE point. So when he says he'll put the "skills" he learned on the court to work as governor what does that mean? He had no skills. He sucked.

God I hate that guy.

I bet you don't know that skills learned on the basketball court are more than just how to score points.
Team work, cooperation, communication, etc. etc. etc.
Did you ever play a team sport, OP. I am betting not.

Not the point. The point is a big fat SO WHAT. The guy's father played on Duke's 1960 ACC Championship team and is in the school's Hall of Fame. So Youngkin obviously inherited some talent and had quite the baseline. What did he do with it? Not a whole lot. He went to a fancy private school and managed to snag a scholarship to a no-name basketball program where he rode the bench for four years. He underachieved. Yet, he plays it up like he was Michael Jordan. It's a joke.

Wrong. Carlyle is not nothing. He has been incredibly successful in his own right.

you just learning about those horrors now?

Weird strawman, of course not.

Heck, we had an American Girl doll who was an escaped slave. But I suppose Republicans today would tell you Addy is some kind of anti-white conspiracy.

Republicans love to make themselves the victims.

The Dems actually voted. The Republicans are the ones who "anointed" their candidate.

Are you aware of what The Carlyle Group actually does?

I wish all those who fell for the Republican machine that created all these openfcps type groups would learn that there are many people who strongly disagree with their stance. Just because openfcps people didn’t get schools in person when they wanted doesn’t make it wrong. Read this article and learn about people who think differently from you on covid and teaching about multiple perspectives (not crt, by the way). https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2021/07/27/pandemic-homeschool-black-asian-hispanic-families/

Exactly. It’s just the latest topic for the billionaire-backed “grassroots” GOP outrage machine.

+1000. Is the strategy to not mention his stretch as CEO of the Carlyle Group until closer to election day? It's the second largest equity group in the world? They specialize in leveraged buy outs. How many people did he lay off due to acquisitions?

They also have some scurrilous foreign investors.
"Carlyle's 2001 investor conference took place on September 11, 2001. In the weeks following the meeting, it was reported that Shafiq bin Laden, a member of the Bin Laden family, had been the "guest of honor", and that they were investors in Carlyle managed funds.[19][20][21][22][23] Later reports confirmed that the Bin Laden family had invested $2 million into Carlyle's $1.3 billion Carlyle Partners II Fund in 1995, making the family relatively small investors with the firm. However, their overall investment might have been considerably larger, with the $2 million committed in 1995 only being an initial contribution that grew over time..." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Carlyle_Group

"Youngkin was born in Richmond, Virginia.[4] He is the son of Ellis (née Quinn) and Carroll Wayne Youngkin. His father played basketball for Duke University and worked in accounting and finance.[5] When Youngkin was a teenager, the family moved from Richmond to Virginia Beach.[6] He attended Norfolk Academy in Norfolk, Virginia, graduating in 1985" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenn_Youngkin

I find it hard to believe that the son of an accountant/Duke University graduate had to support his family as that ad implies. Also I doubt he went to private school as a charity case.

His strategy also appears to not mention he is a Republican.

Which is a smart strategy since Republicans are now unelectable. But still.

Naw. The people upset by schools being closed are fringe.

I'm confused. Was he practicing basketball in "every spare minute" or flipping eggs?

Also, I'm waiting for the pivot to "I'm a farmer" because he owns a fancy private equestrian facility in Great Falls.

We’re not talking about his Carlyle ads. We’re talking about his disingenuous claim that he needed a scholarship to go to college and that he was a big basketball stud. Focus, my friend.

Yeah, in Florida my MIL had to choose between quitting her job and going in person. She couldn't afford to give up her job amd Healthcare. She brought COVID home and my FIL almost died.

Was the last year tough? Yes, but schools had to make hard decisions based on keeping the kids and teachers safe.

Hello Pot, meet Kettle. There is no planet on which Democrats can reasonably argue that they are "of the people" any more. That trope about Republicans is as true about Democrats today, if not more, than Republicans.

I would have agreed with thus until March/April. By then, teachers in Virginia were vaccinated or had the option to be. After that, refusing to reopen was power play where the real loser is the education of children. The kids are so behind it is crushing. And not everywhere. But here yes. So those two-three months of in person would have made a difference. The safety of teachers stance lost credibility because in the end it wasn't their safety that was in peril. It was the education of the kids. And as most politicians know, you don't mess with people's kids. People will elevate a lot of things over their own personal preference but NOT over their kids. It is the real third rail.

and by then local jurisdictions in Virginia were sending kids back to school. Does Youngkin support removing local control of schools? Can you point me to his position on education? Can you point me to his position on anything?
