My brother and I both remember a commercial where a mechanic is working on a car and telling another guy about classes that he’s taking in his spare time and the second guy says, “Looks like you’re stepping up in the world!,” and the mechanic replies, “Yep. And you just stepped in my grease.” But we can’t find it or remember who it was for!

Also the Mon Chi Chi (?) song. Those little monkey dolls that sucked their thumbs? Does anyone else remember that song?

Mon Chi Chi! Mon Chi Chi! Oh so soft and cuddly! With his thumb in his mouth he’s really neat! Fun to (something??) his little feet! Happy smiley Mon Chi Chi!

OMG thank you, Mon Chi Chi singer!!

Slimfast…A shake for breakfast, a shake for lunch, and a sensible dinner.

Steakums were made to seem like a delicacy.

Lots of denture cleaning tablets and denture cream commercials. We have more elderly people now, but they must have healthier teeth because you don’t see those much anymore.

Liz Taylor hawking White Diamonds

The Pepsi challenge

Does anyone else remember the Dunkin’ Donuts guy having to get up in the middle of the night to make sure we all got fresh donuts, baked daily? Sometimes when I’m exhausted but have to get up, I still say to myself in that exasperated, self-pitying way, as I get out of bed, “Time to make the donuts.”

Anonymous wrote:I just watched a compilation of 70s commercials and there was one for carnation powdered milk promising it would really bring down your monthly milk bill, and another for unsweetened KoolAid to which you could add your own sugar as a very economical way to feed your children (with Vitamin C)! Man, we forget how poor everyone was in the 70s. That frozen concentrate OJ was like a major splurge. Now my kids are like “what? It’s not fresh squeezed?”
wait—you could but kool-aid with the sugar already in it??

Sure...we brought it to camp and would eat it by licking it off our fingers.

It comes in canisters not the little packets.

That Whisk commercial jingle haunted me for years. I felt like it was on every time I turned on the TV.
