The Hubba Bubba gum Old West duels blowing bubbles.
Hungry Hungry Hippos The Hanker for a Hunk of Cheese Guy. Plus all the sugary cereal commercials. I think most of the above were on the TV mainly on Saturday mornings. |
|
Saturday morning cartoon ads were the best ads.
My Buddy (my buddy) My Buddy (my buddy) Wherever I go, he goes. My Buddy (my buddy) My Buddy (my buddy) My Buddy and me! Also the Mon Chi Chi (?) song. Those little monkey dolls that sucked their thumbs? Does anyone else remember that song? |
Nothing gets between me and my Calvins. |
| Who were the old wine cooler guys? I can’t remember that one but it played all the time. |
| Bartles & James! Thank you for your support. |

"I can't believe I ate the whole thing..."
"You ate it, Ralph!" Alka Seltzer |
Mon Chi Chi! Mon Chi Chi! Oh so soft and cuddly! With his thumb in his mouth he’s really neat! Fun to (something??) his little feet! Happy smiley Mon Chi Chi! |

I grew up in NY. I'm not sure if these were regional, but two I remember are:
Chock Full Of Nuts is the heavenly coffee Heavenly coffee, heavenly coffee Chock Full Of Nuts is the heavenly coffee Better coffee a millionaire's money can't buy. And Mr. Italy. The Perillo tours. |
| Damn, I must have watched a lot of TV because I HAVE RECOGNIZED EVERY COMMERCIAL mentioned so far. Yikes!!! |
|
I'll tell two friends
They'll tell two friends And so on and so on..... ----------------------------------------------- Doublemint, doublemint, doublemint gum! |

I am constantly singing or quoting old commercial jingles. It’s disturbing how many I remember.
Bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan, of course Wash that man right out of my hair Anticipation… (Heinz ketchup) I had forgotten the Chock Full o Nuts but that’s a great song so now I’ll be singing it. I’m a Pepper, you’re a Pepper, wouldn’t you like to be a pepper too? Good vibrations, Sunkist orange soda taste sensation… Crazy Eddie (Google that one because there’s a whole story to go with his INSANE prices) The Operation commercial with the kid at the end (that’s $500 for me!) But my favorite is probably Tab Cola (for beautiful people). Maybe one of my favorite songs ever, and I never drank Tab! |

| "Tell em KISS MY BUMPER! Just kiss it!" |
| I just watched a compilation of 70s commercials and there was one for carnation powdered milk promising it would really bring down your monthly milk bill, and another for unsweetened KoolAid to which you could add your own sugar as a very economical way to feed your children (with Vitamin C)! Man, we forget how poor everyone was in the 70s. That frozen concentrate OJ was like a major splurge. Now my kids are like “what? It’s not fresh squeezed?” |
