| Imagine Mclean ECNL and Mclean Green mixing players... get real. or VDA mixing players with PWSI RL and VSA RL. Puhleeze. |
|
Well U9 didnt seem to mix to and bottom players this Spring so maybe it’s been addressed. Top team lost only three matches out of over 20 in league play plus tournaments this spring and one of the three Ls was in PKs in a tournament final.
From PP I get the sense it’s the depth of talent in the pool isnt there and some of that is due to some top players (presumably looking to win more) then leave for McLean after a couple years and ilI speculate some of that is the existence of Bridge teams. Perhaps with Bridge going away that depth of talent will no longer an issue with the future U9’s (2013, 2014 etc). |
|
U9 is not a good sample because there is a huge chasm between trained players and not-trained players.
were they playing the top teams of other competitive clubs? no. so they are going to clean up. spring U9 results don't tell you anything about the future, just a preview of fall U10. Sterling Orange - probably a blowout Loudon White - probably a blowout GFR pre-academy - probably competitive Arl Blue - probably a blowout VYS red/black - maybe competitive Alexandria Red - maybe competitive Saint Marys - probably a blowout VSA Lavelle - who knows, VSA disguises its tiers Chantilly Purple - probably a blowout |
| Bernie does a great job. Kids leave because there is NO future with BRYC. Many clubs should be thanking Bernie |
The other team struggled to win any matches against weaker competition, ergo they suitably (for now) split the players and did y mix them. That is a departure from what PP was saying about implementation. Of course Bernie didn’t coach the U9s. |
| he used to, so that in group/out group split happened even earlier, but that was back when SYC wasn't strong, VDA was barely getting started and other smaller local clubs would always lose their best players to BRYC, which is not the case anymore |
| Hilarious then when the non BRYC parents bash the club when their own club has several players who developed at the club. Bravo. |
If a good player starts at a club because it’s closest to where they live, then move as they get older because another club outside their immediate area provides better opportunities, does that really mean the first club “developed” them? Let’s not confuse “happens to live in the club’s geography” with “developing young players” |
We left BRYC, but did not leave “to win more.” So thats 1 piece of evidence against your presumption. There were many other reasons. To blame coaches like LB leaving is ridiculous, no kids followed him to his new job. There are many other reasons why BRYC has issues. BUT all clubs/teams can have issues, it just depends on if you like/dislike those issues. I think the u9-u12 academy had some good ideas, just not well implemented for what we were looking for. |
|
I am making babies now, wishing BRYC fixes the issue then s/he will join BRYC. |
At the same time as posting on here? That's some talent! |
| Bryc still runs the club like it did 20 years ago. Other clubs have all stepped it up but BRYC wants to remain a small family club. Not big enough to be able to pay for top coaches, which is why MW left or all of the marketing, recruiting and outreach other clubs do to attract talent. Too arrogant to establish partnerships with other clubs which it should have done years ago. Ecnl is no longer a draw bc talented kids want to win and don’t want to play for losing teams. If they lose ecnl status, there is zero reason to go to bryc and they become just a neighborhood club like Burke or fpyc. That outcome may actually be ok for the leadership as it means less work. |
Even if it is only a goal- it is still a loss an no wins. If they can't win in NCSL they are definitely not going to win in ECNL. And didn't they get demolished at Jefferson Cup by their own age group? |
| This was transition season to new (better) coach. Players moved around…had a new voice….lots of growth this season. |
Which age group got new coaches? If one win across all girls age groups is growth, I’d hate to see what decline looks like at bryc. Maybe we’re seeing it now. I predict massive talent loss and fewer wins next season. That means zero wins across all age groups and ecnl pushes them to ecnlr. |
