Oh wow! I will cross my fingers for you, but this is strange that you were not notified yet with such a low number. |
| Call the immersion office (DCCAPS). They will tell you where you are on the list. |
| I asked about the Page ES waiting list today and they said they are at #14 and moving slowly. |
First grade is hard. This was a few years back but my child got in off the list in first grade at #3 but I think only one other child came in after her that year. |
| Really? So few spots? I am disappointed. I was hoping that first grade would have a bigger number of students accepted. I heard couple of times that they go to over number 20 on the waitlist sometimes, but I guess that was for K. |
Open spots require attrition. I’ve had three kids in immersion and we haven’t seen attrition between K and 1st. The kids stick with the program. |
| It is ridiculous then that they hold this lottery every year, it should be only for K and they should keep the waitlist of people who applied for K in the first place, if they need to fill one or two spots in the 1st grade. Why get all of our hopes up and go through this whole process? |
I don’t think they are really answering inquiries. Any other info/suggestions? |
Have you called? I’ve touched base with them a couple of times and they’ve followed up and been responsive. |
Should I call or email? It says it is voicemail only and email is generic. |
| I called, left a message and got a response back the next day (no reported more meant at RCF). |
| It is hard to predict what will happen this year. If we go back to virtual instruction (which is a possibility), people may be choosing to disenrol from the program, so more spots may open then. |
