Mom blogger charged for falsely claiming kids were almost kidnapped

She was pretty specific in her description about activity near her car, a white van, etc.
Did parking lot cameras negate all that? Did store cameras see that no one was following her?

I found this to be very disturbing, and yes, it would appear that this couple was just shopping and minding their own business. At what point did she determine they were about to kidnap her kids? Was she literally making it all up? Or was it a misperception on her part?

She told the police a bunch of extra details, including that they tried to grab her stroller, that the couple didn't purchase anything at the store and instead followed them out, all things that were clearly false based on the video. She lied for the 'gram, then embellished further to the cops when she made a report, and nothing she said was validated by the camera. If a white van did exist in the parking lot on that day (and nothing I've seen says there was a van), it still wouldn't change the fact that she lied. Heck, the couple she lied about has 5 kids -they could drive a van. Still didn't try to kidnap anyone. https://www.insider.com/influencer-mom-charged-lying-police-kids-attempted-kidnap-latino-couple-2021-5

Oh, I know it wasn't true- wasn't suggesting that. I just haven't read anything yet where the incidents, particularly in the parking lot didn't happen at all. It seems so bizarre to keep adding facts, and so I was just wondering if she just paranoid and maybe racist enough to assume something ridiculous.

She was just convicted of lying about the kidnapping. "Katie Sorenson, 31, was found guilty on one count of making a false report of a crime Thursday and faces up to six months in jail." Remanded into custody and bail set at $100,000.

I love that the accused couple was just standing at the checkout buying "a decorative baby Jesus."

I watched 60 days in. She will lose weight and sleep. She'll be fine.

I know this is being carried as a story about race and maybe that's a component of it. But can we also just admit, for once, that many accusers are fabulists who want sympathy and to be viewed as heroic for standing up to a "threat"? There is a strong push to believe women in particular when they make an accusation, but the reality is that a portion of accusers, and a very large portion of accusers seeking the spotlight, are fabulists and their targets are the victims.

If you read truthful statements and false statements, one of the main features is that false statements contain irrelevant details.

Listen, I absolutely believe in prison reform. But the time to be worried about prison reform is all the f-ing time. Not exclusively when a nice upper middle class white lady might have to go to prison for a crime she did in fact commit.

I am glad that she will likely be spending a little time behind bars, even if just the time it takes to get bail together. I am glad because trying to use your white privilege to destroy someone’s life for the crime of being brown and living in your rich white enclave is the same mentality as the crowds of smiling white people standing around posing for commemorative photos of the fun lynching they just attended and I don’t want to live in a country where that attitude is okay. I am glad the authorities are holding her accountable for her crime.

The couple falsely accused were recently evicted from their home (along with their children). Horrible.
