I would think it'd be above 125 for standard age score? But CogAT is not the only factor determining "gifted". |
Not helpful. APS only provides percentiles. What is the percentile range? |
90th percentile and above in SAS |
That is Montgomery County, I think |
Correction, CoGat test's SD is 15 just like WISC.
Gifted in this area is 130 but, like others said, there are other factors. APS has this information. I have a child who is 2E and we get both scores for all of the subtests. They got a 133 and a percentile in the 90s but it wasn't 90. 97-ish. We have another child, not 2E and we got their overall score this year. 121. (no subscores) Can't remember the percentile but I doubt she'll land in gifted and that's fine. One other thing to note, the kids took a shortened CoGat this year and it's already a short test so I'm not sure how valid the results of this year's test will be. |
DC's standard age score was just 110 (73rd percentile) - just an average kid. So CoGat has no impact on 3rd grade for this one. |
On a *shortened* version of the already short test. |
They are doing target follow up in some cases with additional subtests |
Is this school-specific? Or do some selected students get another chance in the fall? |
Interesting. Would this be for kids who scored really differently in one or more subsections? |
What I find really interesting is there is a ton of talk about equity in APS but this year when it came to the parent referral period for gifted services I saw not a single thing from any group in APS held a webinar or offered help to parents to complete those referral forms.
And here is another chance. Sure there is no true prep book or class for a Cogat but what there is a workbook that contains the type of questions that are contained on the test. These type of questions are not the ones usually encountered on standard tests so why not help parents find out about these resources, and help them purchase. Why not give more kids a leg up? Lots of parents do this. for once instead of someone talking about equity it would be good to see someone do something - even something so small - to help move the needle .... |
Our school in APS provided a raw score. I am not sure why it varies from schools, you would think it would be a standard print out. |
Our school hasn't provided any of the results/scores/percentiles yet from the COGAT taken last month. I emailed the teacher, and she said she had to check to see what the school was doing. Any suggestions on who else to contact? Not that I'm waiting with baited breath, but just curious why they wouldn't provide the results. |
You could email the gifted teacher, she was the one in charge of mailing them out at our school. |
Does the Math Inventory test carry any weight with regards to screening for gifted services? How do we access these scores? |
