| Does anyone else feel that finer features don't age well? Think Glenn Close. She's always had a thin nose, thinner eye shape. As she ages I feel like there is a sharp, more harsh look to her features. Someone mentioned Meryl Streep and her features (nose, eyes) are larger and that seems to allow her face to look softer. |
Yes, I sometimes think that “cute” ages better than beautiful. |
Holy cow - she is 68?! She looks stunning. Those earrings! That smile! Wow. |
I think she looks great in both, too. She does look a little fuller in the face in pic #2 but I think that might be how she's standing and because she's not smiling as broadly. Still, if you told me I'd look like pic #2 in five years, I would not complain! If you told me I'd look like that tomorrow, I'd be pretty psyched. |
The second dress is matronly and just not as flattering. Color isn't good on her either. That plays a huge part in how she looks from first and second photo. And her positioning (full-face) in photo #2. I can look DRASTICALLY different in two photos taken mere minutes apart. I have a round face too and that is harder to photograph well. I am constantly told I look much better in person .

| ^lips closed in 2nd photo, chin not out. That right there is 99% of the difference. The smile. |
People who have not given birth cannot be placed in the same category as women that have. Pregnancy does a number on everyone--even the ones that 'bounce' back. Some parts of the body--even rib cage are never the same. And the toll of a parasite sucking nutrients and the yo-yo weight gain and loss if you have more than one kid do a number on facial fat and skin elasticity. I got a flat stomach again and 6-pack---but there is a little pooch protrusion from stomach being pushed out. |
She looks amazing. |
| I think Sandra Bullock looks amazing! She has had great work done. |
It's true for many but not all. True for me, unfortunately - I looked great before kids, fit and polished. Now I am just another frumpy, skinnyfat, rapidly wrinkling mommy. Years of sleep deprivation, hormone changes due to pregnancy and nursing, lack of time to dedicate to oneself, and just general day to day exhaustion for those of us without money for nannies and housecleaners definitely don't help. |
Creating a DCUM thread is much like giving birth to a child. You do what you can in that first post- the title, setting context and a topic, much like eating right and avoiding alcohol while pregnant. But once you hit 'submit', you no longer have real control over who that child is going to be. I once did a post asking about conservative office style that within a couple posts devolved into pages and pages of anti-rich white lady screeds. DCUM gonna DCUM. |
The above photo of Julianne Moore is SO BEYOND FILTERED! I know her personally, trust me, the sun has done some serious irreversible damage to her skin. That is not what she looks like in person. |
She looks tired. |
