You has a sad! So many bad feels!

PP has a point, though. First generation counts for a lot more now than it used to!

That wasn't the part the sarcastic response was intended to address. It was directed at the snowflake-y parts.

I would agree with that poster, and I don't think she's a snowflake. The social justice warriors are the snowflakes! And that's the ethos you have to have.

URM + full pay + legacy + fancy sport like fencing and Crew.

“First Gen” He’s just a buzz word that allows colleges to double up on their URM admits without having to mention race again

Now, this made me laugh. So very ironic. So lacking in self-awareness. So snowflake-y.

Can you back up your statement with data? Citation? Where do you get your information?

"A Crimson analysis of the previously confidential dataset — which spans admissions cycles starting with the Class of 2000 and ends with the cycle for the Class of 2017 — revealed that Asian-Americans admitted to Harvard earned an average SAT score of 767 across all sections. Every section of the SAT has a maximum score of 800.

By comparison, white admits earned an average score of 745 across all sections, Hispanic-American admits earned an average of 718, Native-American and Native-Hawaiian admits an average of 712, and African-American admits an average of 704."

The article only discusses SAT scores. It says nothing about being a “social justice activist” or having “ideological homogeneity”. Try again.

it says a lot about the value of being a URM

or white! but now that we don't have to worry about scores anymore whatever will happen to those stuck on the SAT

because all URMs that get really high grades are first gen/poor...their schools are excellent and they live in fully wired houses that allow them to study in quite solitude.....

DP. See, e.g., David Hogg. Harvard admit, 1270 SAT. Must be worth more like 400 points.

It should also be noted that Hogg's much-ballyhooed "4.2 GPA" was like a B- average if you know anything about the way Florida high schools weight grades. The top students in Broward are well above a 5.0. Peruse his Twitter feed if you're bored. Kid can't even spell or formulate a coherent sentence. But hey, he's woke AF!

Lol DCUM, you think that being an internationally known and successful activist, who likely has a future in politics or media, is less valuable to Harvard than 200 SAT points.

You are idiots!

And yes, that hold’s true for GW Bush’s admission to Yale. Despite his poor academics, he became a US president. Do you think he was a bad selection for admission?

That trite comment says nothing substantive and adds nothing to the discussion.

No one cares about scouts. Seriously. It isn’t getting your kid into an Ivy.
