OP needs to take the part where she is loving it out of the equation and focus on the baby needs. Time to realize he is not a newborn and is on his way to being a much more independant toddler.

It’s not true that babies drink more milk as they get older- the makeup of breast milk changes but the amount stays pretty consistent.

My ped told me not to wait too long -- it takes the kid some time to get the hang of actually eating, and by the time he gets some real calories from eating, he is getting ready to crawl and really burn calories. He said if you wait too long to intro solids you run the risk of the kid getting really relaly skinny.

Everyone already brought up important points but I will also say that around 8 months both my children, who loved breastfeeding earlier, began to self wean. So glad they were eating then and by 12 months we were on to mostly solids and 100% cow’s milk.

I would not recommend- I know someone who didn't really introduce much food before 1 and let him nurse on demand night and day. The kid (2.5 now) has all sorts of food textural aversions. Like it's a good day just to get him to eat a puree pouch. His growth has also been affected (failure to thrive).

More prone to food allergies if you wait that long.

My friend only nursed her baby till he was 1 and after introducing solids he developed exema. He also has all kinds of allergies to eggs, nuts, dairy...
