Tik Tok Feta Cheese, tomatoes, & pasta recipe

We normally do something similar to this, but add spinach & lightly toasted pine nuts.

Seriously? You never eat a meal that is not meatcentric? And you do realize both cheese and pasta have some protein? A serving of this has about 20 g of protein.

Sigh. Sorry that triggered you. Yes, seriously, I am asking about adding meat. I think just pasta, sauce and cheese sounds like it is lacking. You don't need to respond. I understand how you feel. I'm hoping maybe someone else will chime in if you stay off of the attack.

NP. If you find this “lacking” why do you even want to make it?

Sounds like it needs ketchup

This. Kids loved it. I think it needs more tomatoes and less cheese

Oh and I had heartburn that night!

Because feta is delicious, pasta is pretty good too and we all like to do like everyone else is doing, at least some of the time.

Also, as an avowed meat eater: not every dish needs meat. It’s really helpful to have some vegetarian meals in your repertoire.

Also, can everyone finish up and try this so I can go back to eating feta like I used to? It’s not in the stores anymore because you tik tokking monsters keeps buying it.

I completely agree with you.

When I made it I added meat. I sauteed spicy pork sausage and added that at the end. I tasted a spoonful of just the pasta, tomatoes and cheese before I added the sausage, and I was glad I made the decision to add it. It was much better with the sausage.

And I see the nuts are out attacking you. They can't let it go so I am sure I'll get flamed, too. Bring it on!

Smitten kitchen has a version with chickpeas instead of pasta. We used as appetizer for Super Bowl. It was pretty good.

I made it tonight. It was so so tart that I made faces while eating it. Kids didn’t like it. I ate it but won’t be making again. Maybe I need more tomatoes?

I posted on the first page that I planned to try it next week. After reading the responses I think I will just pass. We do not really need more cheese and pasta on our life.

It's so freaking good. We used the Washington Post version except we only had crumbled feta (which actually may have worked better). Our kids LOVED it.

Did you use the ratio stated in the recipe? 2 pints tomatoes, 1 block feta. If so, this recipe probably isn’t for you.

For those of you who said you were going to try it with mozzarella- I did it and it was a mistake. I used a log of fresh mozzarella and it didn't melt and become creamy, it just became stringy and goopy. In retrospect, I should have predicted this- think pizza.

Stick with the feta, which I also did and it was awesome. I added eggplant and zucchini with the tomatoes to give some added veg and texture.
