Not sure I would use the word wholesome and attribute it to the Kardashians. Kim is about to divorce her 3rd husband. None of the others have married. 3 out of the 4 that have kids(Kourtney, rob and kylie) are not together with their baby daddy/momma. Khloe is getting back together with the baby daddy that cheated on her twice, once when she was pregnant.

They are able to handle being a single parent because they have the financial resources. That is not the case for many singe mom's. Is this really the role models you want?

I think they reflect middle America better than most of DCUM understands, including prioritizing having a family/familial relationships.

This.

They are fiercely close and supportive of each other. Family first.

A lot of episodes focus on family meals and family vacation…plus family drama.

Scott is a legit member of the family forever regardless of the fact he was never able to convince dum-dum boring Kourtney to marry him.

Khloe and Scott used to be hilarious.

You do realize this is a scripted show?

What I don’t understand is all of the hate for these very successful women. I don’t see what they’ve done to deserve it.

People have mentioned that they are bad influences; they never asked to be anyone’s role model.

People have mentioned that they’ve altered their appearances with plastic surgery; so what!

People always mention that Kim got famous because of a sex tape; so what! She has taken that sex tape moment and elevated her entire family. #Bossmoves!

Worry about your own dang family and let others live their lives!

I think people hate the fact that silly, vapid people are “very successful”.

Anyone else see the South Park episode where Kim was a hobbit that just used filters to look good? Hilarious.

It is somewhat scripted but it is not fake. They have spent the last two decades on camera and people have grown up with them. And while some details might not make it to screen, the fights have been real fights they are having, people watched Kim's marriage's deteriorate on camera, Caitlyn started to transition on camera, so yeah, scripted, but not fake.

I agree with the PP that under all the false eyelashes and skims they are a close family with problems and drama who love each other in spite of all that. And that is something that A LOT of the country relates to. And they have a bunch of failed relationships and beloved children that came from them, which also represents a lot of America.

I don't love the juxtaposition of their having personal trainers/chefs/plastic surgery and then selling the image of looking like a kardashian, but I also don't see how this is different from literally any other celebrity wellness brand. If anything, the Kardashians are more open about the level of effort they put into looking like they do. Gwyneth Paltrow and Reese Witherspoon act like its effortless! KK is constantly posting about her workouts and even Khloe, while perhaps not owning up to her face, has talked about the insane amount of physical work she has done. So they sell body shapers, but they are pretty up front about the level of effort it takes to look like they do.

And hey you know what else middle america has a lot of? People who want step by step tutorials on how to be more beautiful. For better or worse.

- someone who is not a fan really and who has only seen a few episodes of KUWTK but who follows celebrity gossip and therefore them, and who is a staunch feminist and regularly appalled by how it is acceptable to talk about them they way we do in 2021.

A staunch feminist wouldn't waste her time watching this drivel, let alone defending it.
Scripted IS fake. You honestly think regular Americans grew up with this family? The Kardashians don't give a shit about you or anyone else. The more successful members of the family don't even give a shit about the others.

DP. It’s pretty well-known that Kim filmed and added scenes after leaving Kris Humphries to show the “deterioration” of their marriage. Similarly, when Lamar and Khloe’s marriage was actually falling apart she suspended production. It is absolutely not real in any meaningful sense.

I prefer Kim's earlier work with Ray Jay

It's true that some scenes have been re-filmed. Kris Humphries confirmed this when they got divorced, that his initial proposal to Kim was re-filmed. Also, they all review every scene before they are approved to air.

It is also true that this family is extremely close. Kris and Khloe just purchased brand new homes that are side by side. You can literally walk from one house to the other. Kylie lives down the street.

Yeah I don't get it. Whenever I see those plastic surgeried faces and bods, I shudder.

It's somewhat scripted but I think many of the things that went down actually happened. Kim's divorce (twice), Khloe's divorce, Kris's divorce, Kourtney & Scott's 10 year relationship fiasco (who could fake that dumpster fire), & Bruce becoming Caitlyn....maybe some scenes were re-filmed but these were major parts of the show. As someone who watched since the beginning I also found it interesting that Kylie pretty much disappeared from the show which led me to believe she didn't want any of her life on camera really or at least not filming then re-filming.

Apparently, Kylie liked filming the least. I would have guessed Kourntey. Also, let's not forget Kylie never announced her first pregnancy. Khloe was pregnant at the same time and couldn't wait but didn't want to step on Kylie's shine since she was pregnant first. Kylie basically told her - go ahead, I'm not going to announce mine.

All the girls stick to one baby daddy. I guess logistically and financially it’s better. Kids full-siblings as well.

I’m assuming it’s something they all discuss.

Khloe was doing IVF with Tristan even though no plans to be together in the future.

Kourtney and Kim got all the babies they wanted and then divorced.
