Class time is only one part of what teachers do. There are days that I got up at 6 to do Special Ed paperwork, had 2 meetings before school, taught 2 classes, worked through lunch with students who needed individual support, taught another class, had another meeting, hosted a club, and then graded until 11 pm with just a half an hour for dinner. |
Most teachers I know already do work on the weekends. My friends who aren't teachers never work weekends and neither does my DH. He actually gets a pretty sweet per diem if he is traveling on a weekend for work. |
Thought the meeting was 2/9? |
All of those things have happened to teachers as well. I worked in the corporate world and decided to become a teacher. Realized it was a mistake and quit MCPS last summer to return to the corporate world, but with a different company. Truly the best decision ever. LinkedIn has opened up many teachers’ eyes to positions outside of schools. |
FALSE! Why do you people sell these blatant lies? |
Interesting. If you see her out walking her dog many times a day, how does your job allow you to have time for this? |
Thank you for all you are doing. Please stop feeling like you have to justify your work to these people. They need to get a life and worry about themselves. |
So true. Stop trying to justify yourself to these people. They will never be satisfied. They live to hate teachers because they are miserable in their lives. |
Do you know how to read? Montgomery has higher numbers than all other counties besides pg. Montgomery County has higher number than many other counties in the country. This is irrefutable. They're called facts, not opinions. Your assertion seems to be that we have as many or less than any other place in the country. Weird af. |
+1, if parents would do more and team with teachers (who are willing as not all are from our experience), maybe then things would be easier/better. Teachers cannot do it all. |
Teacher have no more information than parents. What we know is going back revolves around numbers? So, help get the numbers down or stop complaining. It has nothing to do with teacher vaccines. |
' If so, they'd be the only district still looking at RTS this way. They'll come around, though...likely before the numbers do. |
Teacher here. Keep hoping for an email with the vaccine appointment link but no luck yet and now who knows? They did say it could be 5 weeks before they get more and doses are very limited. No idea when we will have to go back. My school talked about vague plans but principal kept saying it is all subject to change. I work 6-7 days a week but this is my first year so it is a lot. Special Ed paperwork and meetings are overwhelming and take up so much time. I spend hours and hours on content planning but again it is my first year. DL is hard. I’m exhausted but it is hard as I always feel behind. At my school we are encouraged to spend a lot of time doing one on one appointments with students so that takes up a lot of time. I had always heard teaching is an intense job but never knew until this year how crazy it can get. I like the kids though. |
Of course, Montgomery County also has lower numbers than many other counties in the country...<---also a fact |
Typically, any announcement made by MCPS, teachers will receive an email a few minutes after the parents. |
