| I can not decide which is funnier, the wonderful and imaginative scenarios being shared or the few posters who are popping in with an actual testimonials to share. |
| Sure you can tell them apart? |
You did, but you were fab, darling. Kisses, Bitsy |

The first thing that I pulled out of the envelope was a Beauvoir sticker for the rear window of my car. My eyes filled with tears of joy. Weak-kneed, I slumped to the ground, babbling deliriously. Now I would get to put that sticker on my car, and everyone would finally understand how important and special I was! I had achieved my dream! My life was perfect! I kissed the envelope and then fainted, right there in the front hall. |
| This post is silly. When I started reading I thought it was going to ask about when you found out about college acceptance. |
| That wouldn't have been any fun. This is fun. |
I think the difference is funny versus sad! |
Of course it's silly - that's the point. Gotta have some diversions between now and Friday/Saturday. |
Norman Rockwell moments indeed.

| This is by far the funniest thread I have ever seen! |
Um . . . ahem . . . you're referring to the liberal Washington elite . . .you know, the ones who embrace the idea of diversity but actually prefer to educate their children "away from the masses." |
| I actually do remember because the school that was perfect for my DC calls people personally. And I had just had very bad news the call some minutes before (a death in the family). Then some good news. So this is not always a joke. |
| I have three children and they have been accepted 6 times to various elite schools and I don't remember any of the times. I do remember the relief I felt when I got the financial aid letters, however. |
this definitely!

| OP is definitely a suburbanite striver who did everything to send her kid to a DC Big 3. Actually kudos might be in order. |
