I know somebody who named their daughter this. It is a family name (grandmother’s maiden name). She likes the name and it fits her child, but she is constantly asked how to pronounce and spell it. It is much more of a headache than she ever anticipated.

As others said “Riese” (REE-zuh) in german means giant, while “Reise,” (RYE-zuh), which is going to be a common misspelling for you, means trip, like taking a trip. Just FYI I’m cast that may matter to you.

Rhys is a legitimate Welsh male name. Not trashy. A misspelled appropriation is questionable.

I hate your spelling. Reese is pretty but Riese looks wrong.
