How do I respond to a super spreader party invite?

You can only control you.

This is what I'd say.

"Sorry, per CDC Covid pandemic reommendations, I will not be attending."

"Thanks for the invite, but for me this represents an unacceptable risk."

"I would love to attend at a future time when its safe to do so."

"I wont be able to attend because of the risk. The CDC recommendations are pretty clear. I hope you have a good time, and also know the risk you and everyone else are taking".

I would report the event too.

Can you link me to the CDC recommendation that this type of gathering is not recommended? Not being snarky, I looked and couldn't actually find it. Locally, where I live, there are clear legal mandates prohibiting this kind of gathering, but I couldn't find anything from the CDC.

That is what I would do

"We will not be able to attend as we are adhering to public health guidance on social distancing."

"I'm sorry, I cannot attend. I am mourning the loss of my 55-year-old uncle, a father of two who died alone with a tube down his throat. But enjoy your large gathering of people."

You express your regrets that you will not be able to attend and move on.

"Thanks for thinking of me, but we're not comfortable with that kind of event right now in light of COVID."

If a family member I knew pretty well I would prob say “Are you crazy? No way!”

If it’s illegal, call their county department of health so they can stop the party.

If it’s not illegal, then reply all and warn them that they are playing with people’s lives - their own or someone else’s. It makes them murderers.

The only thing this will accomplish is making you look like a loon..
