Are there any Lawyers on this thread? My question is should we fill out the Proof of Claim? Are there downsides to this? I did contact the lawyer handling this case and I am on the list as a creditor. The amount he has listed is correct . I was told that this could stay a Chapter 11 or change to a different type of bankruptcy based on the court. What can we all do to ensure the best outcome and hopefully recoup the money owed? Also, is there any important information in the assets and liabilities documents? |
How do we apply for a claim of reimbursement?? I can't imagine Joe would be honorable enough to reimburse me. I'm going to email the camp so its on record that I want my $6000 back for 5 weeks in summer 2021 which I paid for in September 2020. He should never have been asking for funds. He knew he was under water. So disappointed in that man. Found camp Greencove in North Carolina which hopefully I can fund for my rising 7th grader. She loved Rimrock for 3 summers.Sigh!!

Camp is NOT going to pull through. No one is going to work there. |
Just now from the camp:
To our valued families: By now, you should have received formal notice that Camp Rim Rock, LLC filed a chapter 11 bankruptcy case on December 9, 2020, due to the crushing blow that the pandemic has caused to its finances. Although the Camp’s efforts to reorganize its affairs are proceeding as well as we had hoped, I wanted to take this time to reach out to you personally to share what has been occurring and where we expect to be not only for this coming summer but for the foreseeable future. Since the filing of the bankruptcy, we have focused our efforts on identifying, communicating, and pursuing opportunities with a number of strategic partners, who not only share a similar passion and vision for the future of the Camp but who have the wherewithal and desire to become a partner in the Camp’s future. Needless to say, we are excited and optimistic about advancing an opportunity that will ensure the Camp’s ongoing viability. Nevertheless, we are not numb to the health crisis that has affected us in so many ways. While the vaccines that are now available are legitimate cause for hope and optimism, the mere uncertainties that the health crisis have created have made this process extremely challenging. Against this backdrop, we expect to reach a final decision on our chosen path by the end of February, and I will personally reach out to you to share that with you. Rest assured that one of our top priorities is honoring the deposits made for our 2020 season that was adversely affected by the pandemic and/or our upcoming 2021 season. Our ongoing viability is critically dependent upon our loyal families, and we appreciate the overwhelming support that many of you have voiced as we continue to navigate these challenging times. Stay safe, Joe Greitzer Camp Rim Rock |
So what do people think? |
As much as we will always think the experience at the camp were incredible-with great regret we cannot risk trusting that the camp can succeed in any interaction for summer 2021. We’re about to register our DD for another camp. |
I don't believe a word he says. |
To: Anonymous 1/20 @ 13:11 could I get a copy of case documents and liabilities as well? I have searched the case and can't access free records so if sharing is possible I would appreciate it. My email is : lcoleson@me.com
My daughter is one of many William & Mary students who worked there last summer as a counselor. She had many tough things to say about the owner that echo the prior comment by a past staff member. Verbal abuse to some of the staff that she witnessed, gaslighting and blaming other staff for people resigning mid summer when it was because of the abuse. The staff counselors have not been paid fully and are filing with the WV labor board. I am trying to follow up with a claim for the Bankruptcy case. In the past the owner hired internationally for counselors and this year was the first he went with more local - this was what he told me at the time of drop off. Your kids experience is because of the staff and counselors so you need to decide what to do, but, clearly this is not a stable situation with a deceptive and not entirely aboveboard owner. He is a lawyer btw and bought the camp about 17 years ago - also what he told me at drop off - this being his full time business now. My best to you all in these trying times. |
My DD has gone for the last 3 years and we had deposited for this coming summer. We made the hard choice to find her another camp. She has several close friends from camp and has been contacting them to let them know she isn’t going. It’s hard because we told her what was happening but several of her friends don’t even know about the problems and she doesn’t want to be the one to tell them 😢
I hope someone purchases Rimrock so it reopens this year - thanks to the wonderful counselors it has been an amazing place. I requested a cancellation refund for this coming summer (knowing I won’t get it back), and plan on disputing with my credit card. Good luck to everyone! |
I'm a new poster on this thread...my daughter went to rim rock for 2 years and we paid back in September for her to be there this summer. I'm trying to figure out a new plan. Rim Rock was the only camp we had experience with. My son is going to start at Camp Greenbrier for his first time this summer...and their sister camp is Camp Alleghany. Does anyone have any experience with this camp or heard anything about it? Would love to hear any other thoughts/ideas too. I saw Greencove somewhere in this thread, but the dates don't align for me. Anyway...open to any thoughts!!! |
Hi everyone - I am in the same boat as many of you on here - prepaid for three weeks of 2021 for our daughter, who attended for her first time last summer 2020. She had a wonderful experience and really wanted to go back. I am really upset to hear all of this information about Joe Greitzer, who has been totally unresponsive to me and my husband. We filed the bankruptcy court paperwork that arrived. We had originally planned for her to go to Camp Farwell in Vermont, which was an amazing place. We did a visit there during summer 2019, and we were so impressed, but they ended up canceling last summer, so we scrambled to find Camp Rim Rock and were thrilled to find a place that ran a successful summer. I might send my daughter to Farwell, but was happy to find a place that was within a few hours drive from home in DC area. If anyone else has ideas about places to go, I would appreciate hearing them. |
If your daughter is a fan of theatre then Traveling Players Ensemble is going to be a residential program. My DD has done both CRR and TPE, and is so excited that they're going to be sleep away this summer. They have amazing and supportive staff who really look out for the kids. We're hoping to send her for 6 weeks if we can make the dates work! |
