+1 I was washing dishes and one of my kids came into the kitchen to tell me, and I gasped really loudly. Scared the crap out of us both. |
| Anthony Bourdaine. |
| River Phoenix was definitely the first celebrity death heartbreak for me, so it stayed with me the longest. |
| David Bowie. Seriously grieved for like two years. Never had a reaction like that to a celebrity passing. |
|
Mac Miller
Amy Winehouse |
| Mr.Rogers |
+1 One of a kind. |
| Also Anthony Bourdain |
Me too. I remembered him so clearly from his season. |
| Alex Trebek. I'm still sad. |
|
Princess Diana
James Gandolfini - i don't know why this one upset me so much. |
Same! |
|
Kurt Cobain.
To this day, I'm not sure why it hit me so hard. I had just come out from having my hair cut, got in the car, and turned on the radio. They announced his death and I burst into tears. I don't know why. I liked Nirvana but I was no superfan. I will also never forget first hearing about Princess Diana. I was up late when it happened and heard the first reports. That was just shocking at the time. |
Another +1 here. He lived close to where I grew up, and with only a few changes Dead Poets Society could have been set at my school. And there's a history of suicide in my family. It came back to the forefront recently, as FIL committed suicide last year. It's speculated that Robin Williams had a form of dementia (lewy body) that leads to suicidal thoughts. We suspect FIL might have been in the early stages of it as well. Also, Chadwick Boseman. We're similar in age, and I have a health condition that puts me at high risk for colon cancer. |
| I still get sad about Prince |
