I also enjoyed Homegoing. I wish I had read it years and years ago. It opened my eyes to things I should have understood better but was never taught in history class.

How much to you need to read before you liked this book? I’ve stared it at least 5 times.

I just read one of my favorites of the year so far, and I read at least a book a week. Mary Toft, or the Rabbit Queen is fascinating. Loosely based on a true story of a woman in 18th century England who claimed to give birth to rabbits. Actually, about science and faith, scams and hoaxes, and fantastic, memorable characters.

Transcendent Kingdom is great, very different than Homegoing but equally good.

The Giver of Stars by JoJo Moyes

I am reading 28 Summers now, and loving it--I really don't want it to end. I pretty much enjoy all of Elin Hildebrand's books, so you could keep yourself busy reading with just her books alone.

I honestly don’t understand the appeal of 28 Summers other than the setting. The characters are awful. The premise is that we are supposed to root for the weekend love affair of a weak man and a woman who can’t cope with a real relationship. There was absolutely no reason for them not to be together from the start except that they both preferred escapism to reality. She wasted her whole life in him and died young. What’s to like? They were insufferable!

I hated this book and am baffled by its popularity.
