I find my environment has a huge impact on my happiness. I personally value a pretty, comfortable space and the fact that my house is MANY expensive projects away from that is depressing. My husband isn't the same way, but understands how I am.
Unfortunately, I'm the breadwinner on a modest salary. It will probably take years for us to get to where I'm happy and relaxed in our home. But I live vicariously though people posting about their projects here and enjoy the eye candy threads. If I can't have all the pretty things, at least I can ooh and ahh over them in other people's homes. |

Clearly this is the time to re-read "Architecture of Happiness"

| We have sweeping water views and, oh my God, have we been grateful for them. |
| I can tell you I'm a lot happier when my house is organized. Living with my husband does not allow me that. He can't even find a trash can. |
Hello me. Surveying a living room where things are just scattered all over makes me feel disorganized in my head! I hate it. |

my happiest time in my life was back in 2001 when DH and I were not even married just graduated college and purchased little shit shack in Vienna woods. That home was straight out of 1955 and we couldn't have been happier.
We then had a baby in that house 2 year later. Best time of our lives. I cherish those years and would pay anything to go back in time. |
