Mr. Rogers for President - Mercedes Schlapp's Self-Own

Mr Rogers is a TV show made for kids. While it has had its notable moments, it is a show that mostly avoids serious adult topics of the times. Notice I said mostly. And that's exactly how the Biden townhall was, an artificially toned down show made for children, or for those with the mental capacity of children.

I love Mr Rogers - I watched his shows while learning English as a teenager.

You really have no idea - integrated pools, political assassinations - you are as out of touch as Schlapp. People do NOT want the CHAOS. That's why Trump's #s are plummteing with suburban women and seniors. Perhaps the right doesn't misunderstand the point - they just lack the moral compass and political sensibility to grasp it.

Did you watch Biden’s town hall? I have no idea why you would describe it as “an artificially toned down show made for children.”

It wasn’t R-rated, and there wasn’t gleeful talk about assaulting women. But it was s straightforward discussion of policy, appropriate for the event.

Can't believe I have to spell this out. Mr Rogers episodes are highly produced, with predefined topics and little if any challenges between the host and guest. There are no disagreements, no confrontation with opinions from different and competing points of view. This is exactly what the Biden townhall was. As such it is produced for people who are not engaged to expand their understanding, but simply to have their existing bias confirmed.

You got it. I have no problem having my pre-existing biases against white supremacy and Q Anon confirmed.

There aren’t always two sides that deserve equal consideration or merit discussion. “Both side”erism is crap.

Fred Rogers was born in Latrobe PA, went to Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, and lived almost his entire life in PA. He is beloved in Pennsylvania.

A swing state vital to Trump's reelection.

Yeah, if you all could compare Biden to Mr. Rogers some more, that'd be great. TIA.

Ms Schlapp made a mistake. It's a telling one.

Typical trumpers mistake kindness for immaturity.

It’s such a wonderful, touching comparison that was meant to be a slap. Mr Rogers was an amazing person.

Ah yes, so many children’s television shows of the time covered Robert F. Kennedy’s assassination.

Mr. Rogers widow did an interview endorsing Joe Biden a month or two back. Biden needs to pull it out of the archive, take the tweet and start running non-stop commercials in PA. “I’m honored to be compared to such such a decent compassionate man And to have the endorsement of his family”. My kid is in college in PA and he is 9one of their biggest hero’s.

It’s way worse than that. They mistake kindness and empathy for weakness. As in, only an a**hole can go toe to toe with Putin. Otherwise the Beta male is too worried about the feels. As if compassion and toughness are mutually exclusive.

How did that work out?

Someone clearly didn't watch the town hall.

That's all right hon. You go and enjoy Trump's "deep," "adult" "discussions".
