+1 Get Mitch in there. |
| Phew, that was close. Republicans nearly got away with stealing another SCOTUS selection. A great break for America. |
|
This is so odd to see. I’m in Maine, where we continue to have low numbers, and I haven’t hugged anyone but my immediate family since March. We do outdoor dinners with neighbors and see people I care about, but we do not hug anymore. I would felt so uncomfortable at that ACB event. |
God does seem to work in mysterious ways! |
| It would be cool if enough GOP senators got sick that the vote had to be postponed |
|
SCOTUS nominees are tested daily. The fact that ACB hasn't announced a negative says a lot imho. iIf she announces she's positive, the GOP is finished.

She had covid over the summer. It's quite possible that she won't get it again, but unlikely that she is the superspreader. |
I thought that too. I understand that the personalities who go into politics tend to be huggy, touchy people. But we've been in a pandemic for 6 months. Did they forget? Did they never notice? |
If doesn't matter if she is a superspreader. If she is Covid-19 positive AGAIN she can kiss her SCOTUS seat goodbye. |
The GOP has this weird belief that if they ignore the pandemic and act like it doesn't exist - it'll go away. 200,000 dead Americans say otherwise. |
ACB supposedly had it over the summer. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/barrett-coronavirus-court-trump/2020/10/02/ecf7c7ce-04cf-11eb-8879-7663b816bfa5_story.html |
| If she tests positive she is required to drop out. |
Again - you can contract Covid-19 multiple times. If ACB is positive, she will have to quarantine 14 days. That completely closes the window the Senate has to push her nomination through pre-election. The two weeks BEFORE the election the Senate is in recess for the campaign trail. After the election and if McSally (heavily favored) wins, the GOP won't have the majority it needs to vote her nomination through. So - yeah - they're finished if she's down for the count. |
