We are aware of the disruptions that might occur with hybrid, we are willing to accept that in order to have in-person school. We know. You think we're idiots that haven't considered this. No, we have. We accept it. |
You may be willing to take the risk of getting covid, but many of us are not. And, because you are so willing and don't care about others, it greatly concerns me if we open. |
I said we're willing to deal with disruptions. Not that we're planning on getting covid. Are you greatly concerned about disruptions? |
| We're on week 3 of in-person schooling (private). We signed a contract that we'll take measures if someone tests positive, including quarantine. Basically we'll do whatever the school nurse advises us. She has seating charts and said if a kid is exposed, they know how far "around" that kid to request quarantine. |
And does an excluded student just continue "attending" class by watching on camera? |
I'm the PP above, and I looked into this pretty carefully, because we have a very high risk child, and had relatives come visit. After 14 days, someone who is going to show symptoms will be showing them, and someone who would have tested positive (if tested) but asymptomatic, is almost certainly past the window of contagion. So, someone who has been asymptomatic continuously for 14 days can return to work etc. . . But 14 days is a long time. |
| I know a couple whose son is back in private school. Dad is in the medical field and quarantines away from his family when he is notified he is exposed. |
| For 14 days. He's on the third quarantine of the summer / fall. |
DP. So you "accept it" but apparently you aren't keeping up to date on what the projections are like for the fall. Did you read WaPo this morning? In the Metro section there is an article that says that the virus combined with the flu will be worse than what we experienced this spring. You need to brace yourself that everything seems fine now but we're getting ready to go into another tough round of quarantining. |

A few things I see as a mom of five ( toddler - high school age): this
All the kids in our educated, science loving neighborhood are hanging out all the time. DL sucks it is no replacement for actual school. No one is gonna quarantine for 14 days now or ever that’s why we still haven’t crushed it after 7 months. |
How do they know flu is going to be worse? People are still doing a lot of social distancing, wearing masks, etc. |
Yes. Our private school required contracts stating similar to the above. Plus notifying the school if your family travels out of the state- the schools may require quarantine period depending on travel location |
