If he'd said this much earlier in the summer then ok but saying it after schools already have announced and implemented distance learning plans looks like pander to Trump. As a Republican Governor, Hogan can say " Mr President, I told them to open, I've done all I can" while knowing full well the announcement was too late to have any impact.

It wouldn’t have made sense to say it earlier in the summer because our numbers didn’t meet the public health metrics...isn’t that kind of the point. And shouldn’t schools have been preparing to open when public health metrics were met instead of just deciding to stay closed until arbitrary dates?

But he never even said what the metrics were until last week, right? He didn’t have to give districts the all-clear a month ago, but he could have told them what the state was looking for. Some counties probably did meet the metrics at that point. Further, he could have shown more empathy and understanding that this is going to be hard and that the state would work with local jurisdictions to figure this out. Instead, he just came off as kind of a jerk and Kate to the party.

16 districts of 24 already submitted plans and were in talks with the state BEFORE Hogan's announcement. That is why so many have already released reopening plans over the last 48 hours. As of today, 20 out of 24 districts have submitted reopening plans. If that doesn't show what a piss poor job MCPS is doing, I don't know what is. They have always played politics and victim to Hogan. Always. The counties knew about it. Erlich is playing deer in headlights and he looks like an f'ing fool. And people like you look like a fool for believing everything Erlich and the MCPS say

Where did I say I believed everything Elrich and MCPS had to say? I don’t. So it sounds like there was more going on behind the scenes, but it still doesn’t explain why Hogan didn’t bother with a public announcement prior to last week. Again, other governors have been at the forefront of keeping everyone informed, not just the few public officials privy to them.

And I still think Hogan acted like a jerk, and has no business opening theaters, etc. now. If opening school is a priority, then entertainment should take a back seat right now- it wouldn’t take much for MD’s numbers to go back up again.

Perhaps because Dr. Gayles and Elrich were asking for it quite vocally and publicly.

And it's not like there was a lack of information. Elrich and Dr. Gayles claimed they wanted more detailed information from the state specifically, but never had any intention of following it.

Aren’t you dense or blind.
All the data was there and great. After MCPS teachers union took everyone hostage in mid July by refusing to work in person, Erlich told Gayles not to read any private schools plans or apply the CDC, NIH, fauci, WHO, federal metrics or state phases for reopening. And Gayles agreed, even on a call with 80+ heads of school, he said he will not read any reopening plans of private schools. And he has ENT. He has refused to do his job, for political reasons to support leftist Erlich and leftist public teachers union.

In August:
Hogan handled things excellently. He shot down Gayles phony Friday night blanket directive to shut private schools by Monday AM.
Maryland state health office shot down Gayles phony statute to blanket close all private schools within 48 hours.
Then Gayles continued not not read or process any well thought out opening plans in lieu of continuing to Omar nasty politics with children’s educations.
Wouldn’t put it past politico Gayles to “I can’t do my job I need the state to” BS

Sure Hogan came out and regurgitated federal, CDC, nih, fauci, WHo reopening standards. By then religious schools already opened and now MoCo private schools are doing so.

Gayles and Ehrlich’s true nasty colors have been in full display this August and September. Not good for kids. Not good for schools. Not good for taxpayers. Not good for MCPS or MoCo.

To also illustrate how F d up MoCos leftist officers are, even DCs mayor last Friday and yesterday went public that schools need to reopen ASAP and definitely by Nov 9th. bowser is renegoatiating with the DCPS teachers union. And taxpayers are livid with them.

They can’t stop themselves. We finally got out own forum and it still winds up being Montgomery County centric.

Other counties wanted this info too- notice that as soon as Hogan provided it, some moved to make plans to open. It shouldn’t be up to individual county health officers to decide which numbers are “great”- the state should be providing more leadership.

The Elrich-Hogan pissing match has gotten really tiresome.
