No.

my son is at a dc charter school (entering prek 4). So it's up the individual school to open or close?

It sounds like it.

Most are already virtual. I’m surprised your school hasn’t said SOMETHING to you at this point.

I think she said she hopes charters will follow one of four plans, but I could be wrong. Was discussing a lot of info as it was coming! Also not sure what the four plans were.

that just makes things more interesting

There is no reason for this in this city. It’s absolutely disgusting. Even more disgusting since they allowed this all spring.

What's disgusting is that you think teachers and children should be exposed

To the ppp who is disgusted, please note they are rolling out devices to all the kids who don't have them.

No I’m a teacher and I wanted all virtual. I was pointing out the fact that they allowed so many kids to linger without a device is disgusting.

This should have been done in the spring

They couldn't come up with thousands of devices overnight this spring. Every single chromebook and tablet was on backorder by the end of March. I think expecting that to have happened in April is crazy.

You misunderstand the PP’s quote. She/he was disgusted that 44% of students didn’t have devices and this was not addressed in the spring. Not sure where you arrived at the conclusion from this post that the PP thought teachers and children should be exposed.

Crystal clear she is pissed with them and not happy with this result in general

The Hybrid was going to be a mess. Teachers would get sick, no subs, half-assessed or no learning on the home days, etc.

Are you a teacher? If so, did you teach live lessons? I don't know any teachers that were teaching live in the spring that want to go back to that - it was a horrible experience. Not until today did I consider applying for leave, this changes my outlook about going back to school completely.

Wait, so there's a whole host of teachers who want to quit based on DL? On what grounds could you apply for leave?

I guess she should have invited the union to the table to talk about how to open the schools safely rather than act like a dictator.

I wonder if she is pissed with EVERY OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICT and most every charter in the city. They forced her hand.
