Just chiming in that slam city is awful! The worst sports program my kids have participated in, including county "sports" classes, rec sports, I9, Overtime Athletics---slam city stands out as the absolute crappiest.

Walter Webb has a new high tech training program out there at the nZone now. It’s not called Slam City. He named it something else. He’s got stations with large screen TVs sand shooting machines. Looks good, but I won’t patronizing because I know Webb’s attitude when it comes to helping the kids improve.

My kids went to a one day camp at slam city and refused to ever return. Said some kids got to play basketball all day and some kids never touched the ball, and also they watched a full long movie at lunch.

My kids really like the small groups at Wootten and Evolution. It has made a big difference over the years.

This is TERRIBLE advice. Without coaching, kids will cement terrible habits. Almost nobody learns good shooting mechanics. Shooting is actually easy to learn if you learn the mechanics, but just throwing up shots won't teach kids anything.

Also, ball handling and dealing with contact are HUGE. As is speed and footwork.

How many guys in the NBA do you think had private basketball coaches? As you know, Coach, you can't buy a good basketball game. The secret is on the blacktop.

Ahh, the best players all had private training. Maybe it was a family member or someone in the community, but most of them had training. Look at second generation NBA players and the children of NBA players for example, they get paid professional training.
If you can afford a personal basketball trainer, get one. If the kid really loves the game and has a hunger to be good, they will also shoot 500 shots per day and get rec on the blacktop.

Highly recommend Neural Movement Training. Trust me my sons won’t go to any other trainer and have excel in each of their sports; basketball and baseball respectfully.

Brandon Adams. He trains out of Bethesda Sport and Health. He’s great!
