Unless she has had a secret council of teachers that no one knows about she has not met with any DCPS teachers. There are 200 teachers, instructional coaches and related service providers on the WTU's reopen taskforce and I can guarantee NONE of us have spoken to the Mayor, we have spoken to the Chancellor in a 45 minute meeting where he was less about listening to suggestions and more about telling us what he would like to see. Most conversations have been thru DCPS legal.

This information should be in the press, because it's certainly press worthy.

At the moment, I think it was a good decision to delay any announcements because of the increase in the number of cases. You all do know there is a pandemic and certain southern states have no control over COVID-19. I think the year will start 100% online just because it seems the easier and safer option and the delay supports that.

If so, provide details. All teachers in _______ grade will meet with students live ______times a week and will require ____ assignments to be turned in. If I had this info, I could start lesson planning.

They are planning for an in person following guidelines and say they will go virtual if DC Health says it isn’t safe. What’s wrong with that? It sounds like the chancellor and mayor and DC Health are all working on this together. I work in a hospital and I see the doctors and nurses (and the rest of us admin types) move all day working, talking, dare I say laughing with masks on. We are not worried about it.

You might have had credibility until that last sentence. Then it all came crashing down. I hope beyond hope that you are a troll making up stories and that you don't actually work in a hospital. Because if you do and you think actual medical professionals aren't worried about COVID and spread then I would respectfully suggest that, no matter what your admin function, you may not posses the minimum level of awareness or brainpower to go anywhere near patients, medical records, or anything other than vending machines.

There are reasonable arguments and there are a lot of unknowns. But the transmission rates, impact of catching this thing and negative medical consequences (including death!) are not generally debatable.

In conclusion, I'd rather you a troll than this dumb. That is all.

I don't know -- I am close with an Anesthesiologist and an ER doctor who have been working in hospitals for the last couple months, and they are not worried about it. They are worried about COVID and society in general, and the disruption, but they are not worried about getting it.

So you are saying they are still worried about it.

Above PP is crap. I’m a physician and parent. I screen and test patients for COVID. Everyone I know is worried about it. Everyone is worried about how fast we are going thru PPE and that there is still a shortage. Everyone is worried about giving it to our families. Our numbers are creeping up in the DMV too.

Nope. The PP above is an orderly and had coffee with two people who professed not to be worried about it and therefore no one in the medical profession is worried about it...PERIOD. Or...they ended their post with childish hyperbole thereby negating the seriousness or validity of anything they wrote preceding it and then got called out and because they are childish and ignorant decided to double down instead of just crawling under a rock and having some self awareness.

On second thought, it is the latter.

You think it newsworthy that Bowser is playing fast and loose with facts [clutches pearls]? (see, her intellectually dishonest commentary on the DC Police budget)

I guess kudos for having a task force and I'm not a big supporter of the mayor, but in my job if I was told the other side I was supposed to work with had set up a 200 person committee for me to work with I'd assume they'd intentionally decided not to make it lean enough to get anything done. Seems like if you want anything done, you need a small, tight group that's empowered to have sensitive talks without spreading info to a group of 200 to be leaked anytime something isn't what your side wants.
