How many masks do you have per kid and where did you get them?

Masks will be like gloves — lost in the laundry— so buying a few extra can’t hurt

We have at least 3/person/day, so 21+ each, plus disposables. Our school has said if in-person classes happen, masks will be required. So I assume at least 2/day if they remove them at lunch, plus an extra for recess or walking home from school. We live in a busy, walkable area and unless we’re just playing in front of our house, everyone is in masks. It’s a little embarrassing to have so many, but I got a variety because it’s fun to coordinate them with our outfits.

So you’d use a new mask if you take it off for lunch? Can I ask why? I’m back at my work, masked, and no one changes masks. What’s the reasoning?

Just received my primary masks. They are very soft jersey and come with inserts (washable on delicate cycle). Elastics go behind the head. $8/3-pack. Matching adult masks too.

I handwash my surgical disposable masks with soap and water and hang it to dry. I was worried when I got my box of disposable masks because they were actually made in China (wuhan) and I was afraid of contamination. So I washed the very first disposable mask I wore, just to experiment. I realized that the masks are not made of paper and hand washing actually does not destroy them. I love the smell of my favorite soap on my mask and it makes breathing through the mask much more pleasant. We also wash the masks after every use. I personally think it makes more sense to wash and reuse these masks. Its better for the environment too. YMMV

We are planning for our kids going back to school in less than 2 months. I bet there will be a huge run on masks when school starts. Everyone has a mask or two they never use for their kids. All of a sudden, those few masks will be dirty, misplaced or damaged.

If schools open and it is mandatory to attend, I will be packing 10 masks daily for DC so that a fresh mask can be used every hour or every period.

I really like the Old Navy masks. I hesitate to recommend them because they were back ordered for a month and a half, but they are much more comfortable than either the homemade or the Target cloth ones we have. Our kids have big heads (age 8 and 11) so all of us share and wear adult sizes. We have around 25 masks for a family of 4.

PP with millions of changes of masks: I don’t trust my kids to wash their hands at a crowded school and remove their mask in a sanitary way, store it in a sanitary way while eating, and then put it back on without touching the front at some point. To maximize the efficacy of mask-wearing, you shouldn’t be touching the front of the mask, right? So yes, definitely going to have a fresh mask for the afternoon. Plus, one of my kids is a hot mouth breather and her masks start to get damp after a while.

These are nice, but the sizing is so inconsistent. The masks are all different sizes - the largest kids mask is the same size as the smallest adult mask. They are very soft and I love the elastic behind the head.

Thanks for mentioning this - I think this is a good idea and will utilize it for my elementary child in the fall!

Old Navy masks finally arrived yesterday - after placing the order May 11.

Adult ones fit great on me.

Kid ones are for younger kids. They fit my 5 year old perfectly. They're too small for my 10 and 11 year olds. The Old Navy kid ones are better for my older kids.

I meant the TARGET ones are better for my older kids.

Ha, my 8yo also has a big head, kinda looks like a lollipop--however, the Target masks slide down a bit, and her nose peeks out when she yells, talks a lot, etc. Maybe I'll look into Old Navy.

Given away for free from where?

Restaurants/ stores. I’m not paying good money for these things.
They are the good ones, though. Get the 95 mask. It’s the best
