24 year old wins Republican primary in NC-11 house seat

Another person who lives in NC here:

Madison Cawthorn and Mark Robinson are two scary as f*ck people who both won in NC.

On the other hand, there is a great D who won again in the state senate named Jeff Jackson who I think would make a great politician on the national stage.

He's got multiple credible accusations of being a creep. Not sure if it will meet the 20 Kavanaughs I estimate is needed to overcome the R+11 bias of this race, but the people wanting to make him the Republican AOC can ditch him lickety split.

The district is R+11 now and NC Dems are out for blood, spearheaded by a popular incumbent governor who appears to be cruising for re-election and with hopes of flipping NC in a Virginia sort of way.

I propose the Kavanaugh as the unit of sexual assault accusation credibility. One Kavanaugh is the minimum amount of proof needed to convince opposite partisans of the unfitness of a candidate for office.

8-10 Kavanaughs are sufficient for Democrats to suffer political consequences, although Republicans only suffer consequences after 20 or so Kavanaughs.

100 Kavanaughs are needed to convict in a court of law, although in some cases, only 75-80 will be needed.

1 Kavanaugh - the evidence against Kavanaugh.

3-4 - Joe Biden vs Tara Reade. A little more at the time corraboration, but Reade herself proves to be a very ... unsymapthetic figure what with turning from a standard issue pink hat wearer in 2017 to a Putinophile in 2018/9.

6-8 Kavanaughs - Al Franken's evidence. Yeah the pictures are there but the girl getting "grabbed" was a GOP operative.

15 Kavanaughs - this guy. He also runs the risk of coming off as overly slick, which doesn't always work.

30 Kavanaughs - Donald Trump. I mean paying a porn star under a pseodonym is pretty damning.

55 Kavanaughs - Roy Moore.

95 Kavanaughs - Mike Tyson

130 Kavanaughs - Bill Cosby

250 Kavanaughs - Harvey Weinstein

Why does Bill Cosby get less Kavanaughs than Harvey Weinstein? These monsters are tied in their despciable acts.

Isn’t it clear to you why? Men, particularly conservatives, think sexual assault is a joke and there is always something wrong with the woman making the allegation. Haha! PP was clever and hilarious with the Kavanaugh bit above because Cosby and Weinstein were innocent. Oh men, you’re so hilarious.

People never want to believe accusations against people they like/support. DH and I were talking about this the other day because we're both former Catholics and I went to school with Cardinal McCarrick's niece. One reason JP-II didn't believe the accusations was that he thought McCarrick was a good guy and he was from a country where anti-Church powers would use false accusations against the Church to turn people against it. So someone who thinks false accusations of assault are common (and many conservatives I know do think this) will just assume these women are trying to ruin Cawthorn's (or Kavanaugh's, etc) career. Of course these same people believe 100% that the accusations against Democrats are true.

To be clear I'm not trying to defend the Pope, just explaining part of his thought process. I think he made horrible mistakes and they shouldn't have rushed through his canonization.

Somebody’s got a crush.

Well, yeah, I have eyes don't I? But he does look my age (40).

No he doesn't.

I think people are too stupid to realize his accident that caused his paralysis was NOT military related.

Is it me or has it gotten worse since 08? Its like ever since perfect Obama came up on the Democrats side, they've been throwing a massive tantrum.

'I don't care if he's a bankrupt skeezeball with fascinations about being a despot - he's everything Obama isn't!' HE'S HIRED

'I don't care if the kid is an idiot who never graduated college, never held a job, and doesn't know the first thing about representing a state in Congress!' HE'S HIRED

Like...what even is this?

Yes, I think it has gotten progressively worse with each passing election, but I think part of it is that the veneer of decency has been peeled away from the GOP. If someone wants to be uneducated and almost wholly without life experience just because they will creep on women and be full of hatred, they’re in.

That’s because he lies to those people. From the Jezebel article linked upthread:

“Cawthorn paints himself as a promising young man with plans to become a Marine until the 2014 car accident that left him partially paralyzed. “He planned on serving his country in the Navy with a nomination to the U.S. Naval Academy,” one of his campaign ads states, until “tragedy struck.” Almost every single news article about Cawthorn mentions that he was nominated to the Naval Academy by his former boss Mark Meadows, now White House Chief of Staff; it’s easy to then assume that he was accepted by the Naval Academy. But it turns out, according to a 2017 deposition Cawthorn gave as part of his unsuccessful lawsuit seeking $30 million from the auto insurance company that had already paid him $3 million, he was actually rejected by the Naval Academy, and was informed of his rejection before his car accident.”

He's going to be wiped. Looks like NC-11 just went blue.

Still happy the Air Force colonel/judge lost to a never-employed, no-education 24-year-old?

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
