Langley School

Sorry if this is a naive question, but is there any possibility at this point for a rising 6th grader to be admitted for this Fall?

I am not sure if a parent could really tell you 100%. Would call the school and ask.

My kid is a 7th grader and the 6th grade behind them is quite small. They only had 2 full classes vs 3 in his grade level..They have done this on purpose and the other grades are all 3 classes as well.

I can ask the administrator...

I would say probably not as they get lots of kids apply for 6th as that is where their Middle School starts... great building and great program. It’s like it’s own school within Langley...

Ah, it did not take too long for you to comment again. Seems like you show up on every thread. You are a sad person. I’m the same poster from before who had kids in Langley and now Potomac for 10th. Langley is a good school for a K-8. You make Potomac look bad. I hope I never meet you at a social event. When I hear a person at Potomac trash Langley, I’ll know it is you.

I’ll make sure to post your name here as well..

I can confirm that that grade has always been small. Am sure they got a fairly good amount of applications since Arlington middle starts in 6th, but I would definitely call. It’s highly likely they’ll take a late applicant.

How common is underenrollment at Langley? It’s one of the schools suggested for late applicants, and I’ve known two families who got accepted outside regular enrollment season.

Depends on grade.

I know at the lower grades it is harder to get as it is popular for k, and the lower grades.

I know also 6th is hard to get in as many Arlington kids apply as one poster said.

I think spots open up for 7th and 8th as some kids move or transition to other schools with a HS. Also possible some openings around 4th and 5th as some kids also move, and the MS rush has not happened yet.

From what we have seen, the classes have always been full and sometimes a spot opens up if Someone needs to move mid year or over the summer if they committed already..

Schools consider late applicants. I would reach out because it is worth chancing, especially considering many are losing students.

Why would you send your kid there?

Our DC went to Langley. Class size shrunk as kids got older and they applied out. They likely have space.

Langley is a very nurturing environment. In our experience it is not academically rigorous when compared with “top” independent schools, but I don’t think that Langley presents itself that way. Our DC was very happy there but has really bloomed academically in HS, and now reflects less happily on their preparation at Langley.

The rising 6th grade is small compared to other grades. I believe the school is doing rolling applications. No guarantee they will be doing in person learning so I’d weigh coming in as a new student who may nit meet their new classmates in person.

Potomac boosters you just. Are your school look bad. Get over it. I was put off. Y the snobbery both on this forum and at the school itself. It’s not for everyone and stop thinking you are above everyone else and putting down others.
