Have you ever dressed up for Halloween or college party in a racially sensitive costume?

I find that a million times more offensive than dressing up as a southern belle or sexy Indian since both are period costumes (native Americans don’t wear a sexy pochahontas dress).

Cuz you like slutty halloween costumes, lol.

Going out on a limb, I assume the OP would not approve of the classic Pimp and Ho parties of the 90s. Good times.

Isn't "hobo" a classic halloween costume?

This mocks the homeless, stereotypes those of lesser-means, and is extremely classist (in the most offensive way).

I’m the OP and I wasn’t partying in the 90s but in the 80s. We didn’t do pimp and hoe but apparently did civil war which was the point of my post. Back in 1986 it wasn’t weird to dress like southern belles and union and confederate soldiers for a mixer. Or maybe it was? I don’t know..I am certainly not judging but I am embarrassed that I participated in this stuff now.

I got a cardboard box and made a die/dice out of it one year. Another year, I was a baby. Another year, I was a hippie (tie die, groovy sunglasses, long hair parted in the middle) but my parents were actual hippies so I don't think it was offensive. Another year, I was a palm tree. There are infinite possibilities to non-offensive costumes.

Yes - but you ultimately mocked the values your parents stood and fought for, and in so doing, you diminished their accomplishments. That alone is offensive enough that you should feel shame for your actions.

No. I'm not worried about it.

Major cultural appropriation. And definitely NOT OK!

If I did, why would I admit it here?

I went in drag to a Halloween party - I'm a cis hetero woman and dressed as a man. Halloween party was at a gay club and I went with my best friend and his then-boyfriend (now husband). We are all middle aged parents now so none of us have any idea if that's unacceptable these days.

My 3 year old wants to be a pirate this year.

This is highly offensive to the entire LGTBQ community.

You really should be ashamed of your behavior. If you don’t, please educate yourself.

Joke, right?

No, I have common sense and have had a diverse group of friends my entire life.

My mom dressed me as a dog one year and put a smudge of black paint on the tip of my nose.
Anonymous
No.
Why was it a good time for folks to pretend to sex trafficked?
Anonymous
No, definitely not.

Why not brown or white paint? All dogs matter!

I bet you don’t realize how insulting you are being mocking a very serious issue. Gross.
