This is a polite way of saying that most Americans mispronounce Gianna. Same with problem with Giovanni.

NP but I think the Italian pronunciation of Gianna is a lot prettier than the three-syllable pronunciation. It’s softer.

I am American but with Italian heritage and spent a lot of time there growing up, with family, and speak Italian. Not sure if that’s enough to allow me to weigh in, in your opinion.

Huh??? For me, the traditional pronunciation of Gianna is gee-AH-nuh. And if I saw Jiana I would actually think it's a weird Spanish name and pronounce it he-AH-nuh, but just realized it could rhyme with Diana.

Gianna is an Italian name, pronounced more like two syllables instead of three.

I love Gianna, we have one in my family, I think it's a beautiful name and would not change the spelling. I also like it in the context of sort of honoring Kobe Bryant's sweet daughter's memory.

What? They’re both pronounced the same—Jee-Ah-Nuh. But Jiana just looks janky compared to Gianna.
