I like the original spelling Gianna, but he likes Jiana. I told him spelling it with a J will doom her to life of her name constantly being mispronounced, lol. Which do you think sounds better? The middle name is Alexandra if that helps.

I agree with you--I like the spelling of Gianna. I also think that Gianna Alexandra is a beautiful name! Congrats to you and your boyfriend, OP.

Will you pronounce Gianna the traditional way or do you have some other pronounciation in mind?

The traditional way.

Definitely Gianna then. Jiana will be pronounced “Gee-Ahn-Ah” three syllables instead of “Gian-na” (two syllables).

Huh??? For me, the traditional pronunciation of Gianna is gee-AH-nuh. And if I saw Jiana I would actually think it's a weird Spanish name and pronounce it he-AH-nuh, but just realized it could rhyme with Diana.

Gianna is an Italian name, pronounced more like two syllables instead of three.

OP, I'm sorry, but both come off as trashy to me.

Please use the traditional spelling. The J looks trashy. Also, I look at the name with a J and can’t even figure out how to pronounce it. If you just go the traditional route you will relieve your child of a lifetime of having to explain her name to everybody. it’s enough with unique spellings.
