So this thread is talking about DC. I am sure that there are other MoCo threads. So yes as a resident watching the MPD interaction and lack of interaction on Sunday, it was confusing and inconsistent. I have NEVER watch police WITNESS a crime and not say a word. Furthermore they did not even have squad cars turned towards the looting to video the incident. The MPD was just leaning on street signs watching the looting. Very inconsistent messaging in my opinion. But maybe I missed it. Maybe the MPD told them to loot these stores and they would not be bothered with. Maybe the Mayor has an agreement with all of the stores that were looted and the City has a fund to make them whole without them having to turn to their insurance company's. So maybe there in fact was a lot or pre coordination and communication with the looters. |
Does MPD not have bodyworn cameras? |
Yes, MPD does have body worn cameras. They are supposed to be turned on during an interaction. I will say from having seen the footage in a court setting that the field of view is optimized for personal interaction and would be pretty useless at identifying people from across the street. Also, it moves around a lot unlike the steady mounted ones on the squad cars. |
| 11PM curfew tonight. Back to the madness. |
outside agitators gotta agitate |
You guys are so racist. We must respect the looters right to loot. Next time I’m treated unjustly, I’m going to ransack a CVS for Vicodin. |

I love how there is a faction on this thread who says 'not a concern because they are imported from outside of DC.'
What does that change and how does that prevent an MPD Police Officer from ensuring my family's safety. |

Me and my wife have three doctors we need to see in Chevy Chase, Md. we are seniors and these doctors ave very important to us, when we drove north bound on Wisconson ave. Chevy Chase looked like a third world country with all the windows broken out along the way. My advice to the mayor of Chevy Chase Md. is the tax revenue that you will loose from all the businesses that were destroyed pays you and your police Departments salary's so you need to get a clue and try to preserve the reputation of your once beautiful city.

Insurance does not cover riots and looters. |
Any source for that? All the media coverage I've seen says it's covered: https://www.usatoday.com/amp/5318935002 https://slate.com/business/2020/06/looting-protests-insurance-premiums.amp |
| Time for the Target owners to arm themselves. That will stop looting right quick. Wild West baby, here we come. |
Just like how our big county public schools keep passing students three grade levels behind. Okeedokee. And no, don’t clean it up. Let the vandalism stand for months and months. Money doesn’t grow in trees, esp not in a recession. |
Exactly! Let those vandals destroy public and private property! They are untouchable! Wooo hoooo! |
