I mean 2 months in... ^^ |
![]() You realize that your child’s life will be greatly different than yours was/is, and she will benefit greatly from being able to access different media on a screen? Technology isn’t going to suddenly go away. |
On my neighborhood listserv many people are cleaning out stuff and have posted about leaving free books in their yard. Many of them are books for younger kids. If you have a listserv, maybe ask if anyone has some books they'd like to pass on to your child? It would be a win-win situation.
And if you need to buy, I use Wonder Books in Gaithersburg. They sell used picture books and I've had a lot of luck with them. Plus is supporting a local small business. |
I imagine they will do what we do with our daily mail - wear gloves, toss everything into a basket, and let it sit there for 3 days before opening. We have 4 baskets so that we can use a different one each day. PP, this is great news!! |
+100 We don’t go during NORMAL times |
What a shame! My kids have gotten so many good books there! |
Can’t wait for curbside pick up of holds!! |
I’m so glad I didn’t grow up with a parent who thinks libraries are GROSS! |
The ones I’ve been to in nova smell like a mixture of farts and glue. |
+100. My childhood library did smell odd, but the stories it introduced me to! And I don’t remember any odd illnesses. |
Honestly, without schools being open, I can see people dropping their kids off for the day. |
Lol, there is no benefit to reading on a screen. Or for that matter, to using screens in childhood. |
I wonder what they do for books? Is it all Kindle? Or do they spend $1000s? My guess is they don’t read much at all. |
me too but I wouldn't have wanted a parent that rigidly rejected available technology simply for the sake of doing so, either |
Where did you get that idea? OP stated her kid got headaches from reading on screens. |
