Are you joking? It’s the best way to get so many different books!

It’s also the best way to watch a homeless guy pleasure himself at a desktop computer and share oxygen with the kind of people who want to read a free newspaper on a giant stick. Licking their fingers at every page turn.

Um, what the hell library are you at?

Germantown. When I studied there for my Master's, I saw crazy stuff.

What books, exactly, are nerds chomping at the bit to read?

Ok. So that’s not in Fairfax County and doesn’t apply here. Move on.

Books for our kids, dummy.

Our libraries (very, very expensive to build for my city) are essentially day homeless shelters.

I have a very specific list for my kids. I keep a list of books that I think they would be interested in, as well as their requests. I have a preschooler, an emerging reader kindergartener, and a middle elementary student. I don't want to buy any more picture books for the preschooler. I don't really want to buy emerging readers that will have a short shelf life for the kindergartener. I will buy the middle elementary kid some books, but some books are worth reading only once.

Which city? And assuming it’s not DC, why post about it on a DC board?

Eww. That is just gross. Was this at the old Germantown library or the newer 3 level one? I go there all the time and some times use their computers if I need to print something.

Fairfax Libraries have announced their curbside start date and procedure.

They will also start taking returns based on your last name on specific days of the week to deal with the potential overload.

DH dropped off a bunch of library books today. He just put them in the return slot as normal.

Well yay for you for not following the rules, and making it more difficult for the librarians and those who are trying our best to make this system work!

My email stated to make returns in the drop bin beginning June 1. No specific day for returns or by last name.

It's in the link PP mentioned: https://research.fairfaxcounty.gov/unlimited/curbside

I will say that the information from the library has been a bit disjoint. Of course they don't have a huge staff, so it's understandable.
