This sounds like PCP. This is absolute nightmare fuel.

Here's the assailant.

I found that too. Jeez, I wonder what happened between then and now in this person's life.

Most mental illness hits while kids are in college.

It started in early childhood, people. Pay attention to what happens early on in your child’s life.

But is there much you can even really do about development of mental illness? My brother is mentally ill, while myself and our younger sister are 100% fine and completely responsible adults. Same house, same parents, same focus on extra curriculars and education, etc. Same family problems too - but so many have issues.

However, my brother was "problematic" starting in kindergarten. It just continued escalating into his teens. He joined the military, which set him straight for about 10 years. But once he was out of the military & the structure it provided, he went completely off the deep end.

So yes, you can "pay attention" in childhood. There were certainly signs that something was not right with him. But what is a parent supposed to do?

There is a lot parents can do.

They can properly medicate the child that has a mental illness. They can provide appropriate therapy to the child with mental illness. They can put the child in the environment best suited for a child with mental illness.

What they should not do is stick their head in the sand and pretend their child is fine.

Easy for you to say! Don’t judge something you haven’t been through. My mother is mentally ill. Her father was a physician. Two of her siblings were physicians. She is f@&$ing impossible and there’s next to nothing you can do to help her.

Yup. Gotta tell you? As a concealed carry individual, I would have dispatched him quickly and efficiently. And if that put me in jail? So be it.

Would you? Or would you have accidentally shot the little girl or one of the bystanders trying to help.

Get out of here with your nasty gun agenda, no one wants you in dc or anywhere else.

There is no agenda. And you don’t take a shot unless it’s a clean one.

The reality here is a man was choking a four year old child and 7 people could not make it stop. In that situation, you can walk straight up to the individual and eliminate the threat in very close range. And if you can’t get a clean shot that way, you don’t take it. But you can knock the crap out of a man’s head with heavy metal weapon as well.

Dealing with same. I feel your pain and understand your frustration.

I don’t own a gun but would be grateful for someone like you. Would like to protect your right to carry, for sure.

Thank you.

Seriously you probably would have added even more chaos to the situation and I’m glad you were not there. The fact that you brought this up honestly indicates to me that you are not well.

So he goes to a pregnancy center with the girlfriend, flips out, and attacks the first kid he sees?

What. The. F#ck.

Please don't spread wrong information by speculating. The pregnancy center director was interviewed at length on TV and what you describe did not happen.

The man was not at the center with his girlfriend. He was on the sidewalk outside acting bizarrely then suddenly leaped through a window into the center's lower level, ran back out of the center through a door, then ran down the street, saw the child and pounced on her. This was not a scenario of "he was visiting the center for his GF's checkup and went nuts" so please don't speculate that it was. Doing so only makes people think the center is some potentially dangerous place where angry or crazed parents might lose it. Not the case at all. Let's at least be accurate about this horrible event.

You probably would have shot the kid or a bystander, but don't let that interrupt your daydreams.

Sounds like PCP. I've seen patients break free from leather restraints while under its influence. Not excusing this person's behavior by any means, but it's an awful drug.

It does appear that the link is for his registry.

Speak for yourself.

This poor girl is super lucky that it didn't end up worse. Thank goodness for the people who came to help out. He was a large man. If it had been just the girl and her mom, it could have ended up much more tragically.

There is a reason why people don't support banning guns, PP makes a valid point. Just for a case like this. YOU may not want to carry, and that's your right, but not everyone has to agree with you.

There are multiple things to discuss here - drugs, mental illness and this is just one more that can be considered. No agenda.

DP but get a grip, he's 5'9". The thing that set him apart was being on some kind of drug that gave him crazy strength and a willingness to leap through windows, not being "a large man."

5'9"....but nearly 200 pounds and likely a lot of that is muscle. The guy was a former D1 running back. Even if he wasn't on PCP, it would take at least 3-4 DC Normies to rescue the girl and restrain him. Add PCP and yeah, you need 7 people to handle the situation.

5'9", 190 is completely, absolutely, bog-standard average for an American male. He's not a large man. He's a, how did you put it, Normie. Running backs aren't large, linebackers and wide receivers are large. It's like you're reading from a script and refusing to acknowledge reality.
