I literally just found $15K in my credit union account. When I first started my job 9 years ago, I had $150/paycheck auto deposited. Well, I forgot to turn off that auto deposit. I signed into my credit union account for the first time last week in many years and saw the balance.

We are using the money to prepay for UMD tuition for our infant baby.

Wouldn't the CU have been mailing you a 1099 after all these years?!

How could you have just remembered about it?

Don't go wasting that kind of money on bourbon. Invest in a good Scotch.

If I want to lick a peat bog, I'll get a bottle of Scotch. Since that's gross, though, I'll pass.

I have no problem being a low-class American for these purposes.

Egress window for basement ($5k)

New windows ($15k)

Four vacations ($5k). I’m single, play the credit card points and miles game and know where to find the best deals.

The CU had an old address on file. Since then, I've moved 3 times. So no, I never received the 1099. The interest is minimal, may a couple dollars per year.

The question is how you would SPEND it, not donate it.

And by the way, you are tedious and annoying.
