Parents pay for the test. For some reason the test scores are sent directly to the K-8 parochial schools and the high schools where the child applied BEFORE sending it to the parents who paid for the test. Ridiculous.

I don't understand why this is ridiculous.

I've had 2 take it..Its completely ridiculous. Scores should go to parents as soon as available. What is the argument for not doing so?

I didn’t pay for the test so I assume our K-8 parochial school or diocese paid for it. But I don’t see why that changes who sees the scores when. My kid too the test in November and we got the results via snail mail. Amusing.

Parents don’t pay at our k-8.

My child took it in DC 12/7. No scores yet.

What is the argument for doing so? What will you do with the information before January 19th? There is no ability to retake the test.

I have had four take it. Why would that matter? The scores will go to the schools regardless. You can’t cancel them without missing the admission deadline.

While it doesn't matter to you, it does matter to me and other parents since our kids took the test and especially if they paid for the test - why are they getting this news AFTER everyone else? If you look at the recent Washington Archdiocese 2018 report (more parochial kids (PK) score advanced, less average and less poor (2/3 ain't bad?) - more nonparochial kids (NP) take the HSPT than parochial kids, greater % of parochial kids score advanced who take it before NPs which makes sense since these kids are tracking toward Catholic HS and might have been prepared. What's interesting is that later NPs take the test, each NP cohort does demonstrably worse in all of the 5 tests in the 3 successive test dates. Still doing the math here but it looks shady.

Here is my argument - Why do some people get the scores ahead of others while I have to wait bc my kid took it at her school? All parents should be notified about the scores at the same time. It's annoying. You are right that it won't change anything, but I find it annoying that my principal knows the scores and I paid for it and still don't know. My kid won't even be going to a school that takes the HSPT. Will most likely go to one that takes SSAT, but I still find it incredibly ludicrous that the school is told before me. I guess it's not a huge deal, but just another reason to be irritated with how the ADW operates.

Sorry - this appears to be an outdated 2 year old page. Disregard!

DD took test 12/14.

I can see on the St John's application checklist that the school has received the scores, but we have received nothing to date.

I know it does't change anything and is out of our control at this point. I just want to know.

Did you call and ask? Maybe there was a glitch?

You will not get them until late January.

DC took the test 12/7 (a week earlier than PP, who knows that SJC has the scores). And we still don't have scores, either. So I assume they just haven't been sent out to parents yet.

Different but related question--SJC invited DC to the Scholars orientation/panel thing on 1/26. Does that mean the score was good enough, or does every student who indicated interest get invited?

Thanks if you know!

You might start a new thread. But in the past they definitely have not sent it to everyone.
