I thought I read they were coming out on 1/19, but apparently they were already sent to the schools. We have not received them yet (test 12/7). |
| Seems unlikely that you received a scholarship offer before any admissions committee has met. |
My son received a letter from a school that he was 'eligible' for one based on his HSPT score. He has to write an essay and be selected from there. I'm guessing something similar for pp. Some schools award them directly, some you need to qualify and then apply. |

From Washington Archdiocese -
Q: When are test scores released? A: Test results are emailed to families in January. The test scores are released in the third week of January, and are sent to the email address on the HSPT registration. |
Thanks! |
Yes. This is exactly what we received. I never said he got an offer, btw. I said scholarship “letter”. I was confused because we haven’t even received his test scores yet, but apparently some of the schools he’s applying to have them already. |
| I find it highly annoying that the high schools and our parochial school were sent the scores already and that we are not notified until 1/19. I don't understand the rationale as to why they wouldn't notify parents at the same time they let the schools know? |
Agree. They are official if they’ve been sent to schools. Why such a big lag time? |
| Who pays for tests? As a parent with a kid attending public school looking to attend Catholic HS, I would find it odd if the scores were sent to schools weeks before I got them. |
Parents pay for the test. For some reason the test scores are sent directly to the K-8 parochial schools and the high schools where the child applied BEFORE sending it to the parents who paid for the test. Ridiculous. |
May give K-8 schools who provide the pipeline of HSPT test takers early warning on any bad news? Still ridiculous. |
Hmm.. there seems to be an update: Q: When are test scores released? A: Test results are emailed to families in late-January, and are sent to the email address on the HSPT registration. |
| We are in the Archdiocese of Baltimore and for the test taken the first weekend in December, I got the scores emailed to me on 12/26. |
I didn’t pay for the test so I assume our K-8 parochial school or diocese paid for it. But I don’t see why that changes who sees the scores when. My kid too the test in November and we got the results via snail mail. Amusing. |
I don't understand why this is ridiculous. |
