O come O come Emmanuel
Angels we have hear in high - esp the Gloria part

Great choices.

I also love Go Tell It On the Mountain.

And for a particular recording, I love the Barenaked Ladies/Sarah McLaughlin version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman.

For silly I love the Elmer Fudd version of a holiday song. Can’t recall name. The singers are laughing in it.

Emmanuel by Amy Grant I have great memories caterwauling to it on my disc man growing up. I'm sure my parents loved that.

And Mary Did You Know also because of strong memories singing it in church choir (when I finally learned to at least carry a tune)

U2- Christmas, Baby Please Come Home

And literally anything off of the classic Boney M Christmas album. I don’t think the songs are my favourite, but I think it just transports me back to when Christmas really was magical.

Love Andrea Bocelli

The Jingle Cats cd I listened to growing up. It's real cat (and some dog) vocals set to music.

I love O Holy Night, but I've been obsessed with Hallelujah the past two Christmases.

I'm not even religious at this point, but I still love Christmas songs.

Silent Night is my favorite, and just calms my soul a bit.

The Pentatonix version of Mary Did you Know is amazing!

I really like "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas" but my favorites are: In the Bleak Midwinter, Once in Royal David's City and A Spotless Rose, If you are into religious music, Christmas on 5th Avenue with The Choir of Saint Thomas Church New York with John Scott is amazing.

This might be the most condescending, ignorant song ever made. I’m no PC activist but this song even offends me. “Do they know it’s Christmas ti e at all?” Come on.

Charlie Brown Christmas, an obvious choice.
Bells of Dublin - The Chieftains. This is a great album from start to finish. Elvis Costello, Roseanne Cash, Marianne Faithful, Rickie Lee Jones and Jackson Browne all make appearances.
Blind Boys of Alabama - Go Tell it on the Mountain - another great album with some great guests including Tom Waits and Chrissie Hynde

Bells of Dublin is my all time fave. I also love Mahalia Jackson's Christmas albums, and especially O Holy Night and Do You Hear What I Hear. Joan Baez does a lovely version of O Come O Come Emmanuel. Love the Clancy Brothers Christmas album too, though I think it's out of print.

The winner thus far is O'Holy Night with five votes

I'm surprised how little overlap there is. I counted 54 different songs.

I used to love it, but as I've grown up, I have come to view it this way. So obnoxious. I still love the idea of helping those less fortunate, but this song....ugh.
