Her dad wouldn't have the same last name as her husband. I mean, unless they're in Kentucky. |
| At the very least it could allow your son a bit of anonymity. When people try to google your son, they'll come up with this other Robert Bales. |
| We need more information. This is a case by case situation. Sorry OP but you'll need to tell us the name. |
| Bob Kerrey? |
|
Robert Mugabe?
|
|
If it's Robert Chambers, I wouldn't.
|
Bob Kerrey is a Medal of Honor winner, so no, not a war criminal. |
Depends on who you ask https://www.seattletimes.com/nation-world/former-senators-war-record-ignites-debate-in-vietnam/ |
Or Mugabe... |
I have literally never heard someone refer to Bob E. Lee, or Bob Mugabe, so I am guessing it's neither of those. I think Kerrey is a good guess. |
| Dread Pirate Roberts? |
Are you Russian? If so, you have to know that those names are really common and no one would associate them with the Chairman of the KGB (Ivan, Aleksandr, Pyotr, Vladimir, Yuri, Vitaliy, Viktor, Leonid, Vadim). If you're talking about Felix Dzerzhinsky, he was head of the Cheka, not the KGB, and it's a common name. |
| Nope. I did use it for a baby I miscarried though. I got the name out of my system, but didn’t offend anyone. That child doesn’t have to attend middle school, which to me is the biggest reason not to use an infamous name. |
I love this Russophile post. Good catch on the Cheka. |
