I'm reminded of the toddler parenting truism, that kids need love most when they are at their most un-lovable.

This game sounds like exactly what you guys need now. A day of being together and enjoying each other's company, without expectations or punishments or whatever.

Reconnect and then figure out ways to help him realize what he has and how he can best give back to the world.
