There will be a lot of "well.. Trump did it and Rs were fine with it".. that's for sure.

Pretty much. Trump has created an anything goes precedent. Anything thing following Presidents do will look tame by comparison.

I hope that if the USA survives the GOP’s reactionary assault on it, that we tighten up into law a lot of things which had only been custom before. The GOP has proven it doesn’t care about America or the law or democracy and we need to strengthen our defenses against attacks from within.

Globemasters aren’t like flying commercial. They’re slower, wayyyyyy louder inside, and generally are about as comfortable as riding on a wood bench in the back of a moving truck. I’d be thrilled at the prospect of a sauna dip and a comfy bed after 6,000 miles on a C17.

Good for Trump for thinking of those Airmen’s comfort. That’s class.

There are 100+ hotels closer to the airport than Trump's failed property. This is outright theft, and the chain of commaned at the USAF needs to be brought to military justice on this. Shameful at every level.

So there are 100+ hotels they could’ve kept the crew in instead? That’s what you’re saying? All of which would’ve also required money being spent, in some cases perhaps more money, to put the crew up for the night.

So is your issue here the fact that money was spent to put the crew up in lodging? Or that it was spent at a Trump property? I can’t tell which just by your outrage. For all I know, like most Trump haters, you also hate the military and would tell them to just sleep in the cargo hold for the night. So it’s hard to pin down where your hate is focused.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe the Trump property offered a heavily discounted rate for the crew? Maybe it was cheaper than any similar hotel? Wouldn’t that make good fiscal sense?

Because if the rate was lower and the DoD paid more to stay somewhere else, I suspect you’d be complianing that Trump was being fiscally reckless.

There was no need to go to ANY of those 100+ hotels. They never stopped off at Scotland before. It's out of the way. They normally stay the night at an American air base, which is guaranteed to be cheaper than a Trump hotel.

+1 and to add, the fuel at an American air force base is cheaper than paying for it at the Scotland airport. I seriously cannot believe people are trying to justify this is okay.

It’s a cult. Don’t try to think of it as people with political differences, as they’re way past that.

They don't even care about the damage they're doing to the country. They just want to "own the libs".

So just for a second, let’s replace Trump’s name in this argument with Obama (if Obama did the same thing during his administration). The Republicans would have just shrugged their shoulders and defended this ?

Ya, right. The impeachment papers would have been drawn before the Air Force flacks finished eating.

More flights even today. Air Force has confirmed.

He’s daring anyone to do anything about it. It’s only going to get worse.

This.. that's pretty much all it's about. Forget patriotism and what's best for the country.. it's just pure "own the libs". The adage, "cut off your nose to spite your face" comes to mind.

Of course they would have. It's not like Trump is taking vacations in some exotic faraway place like Hawaii.

I have tried taking to a few Trump supporters in my neighborhood. They honestly believe that Trump can do no wrong. They believe in Q amok and every other conspiracy theory or anti-dem propaganda. When I point out to them the fallacies, the what aboutism and conspiracy theories continue. Taking to them made me realize our democracy is under attack by these conspiracy theorists. After being staunchly independent, I have finlly registered as a democrat. We need to drive these people out of government.

You realize Trump has already spent more money and time golfing in 2+ years than Obama did in 9, right?

This is a photo of four C-17 Globemasters on July 23rd lined up to get overpriced fuel at tiny Prestwick airport so the crews can then go to Turnberry and shovel US taxpayer money into the pockets of the Dear Leader.
