I hear you, that was always my parents' stance as well. But I can tell you what, when I was a kid I was always thrilled to get cash as a gift even though my parents looked down on it. And I can guarantee that the current generation of kids have no ill feelings towards receiving cash. None whatsoever. Still your own choice of course, but that's really becoming an old way of thinking. |
Meh. You do you, babe. |
Thrift shoppers love all those cute socks. |
| Our girls absolutely loved getting monogrammed towel sets. They each got maybe 2 different sets from different people and they were thrilled. They liked having nice hand towels and face cloths to hang by their sinks in their rooms, and then they had the bigger bath towels for the showers. Out of all the things they received, these were the favorite. Even more than cash. The second most favorite gift was to receive one of those monogrammed sarong/bath wraps. |
Your girls lied to you. |
Either that, or they went to college in the South. |
making a post with the expectation of being left alone is strange, no? |
Monogrammed towel sets would have been a ...sight at my northeastern LAC. I'm laughing just thinking about it. |
+1 what a stupid idea. |

I went to W&M. I would suggest any of the following in lieu of cash:
-gift card to the bookstore on DOG street where she can buy college themed items/apparel. -gift card to The Cheese Shop - great place for lunch that the college students frequent down there -Busch Gardens gift card! Fun to go with college friends on weekend. |
