Bruce Springsteen. This song grosses me out.

I love that song!

Sitting on a park bench
eyeing little girls with bad intent.
Snot running down his nose
greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes. (Jethro Tull)

Don't Stand So Close to Me (the whole song, The Police)

Wow- you could be me! I hate all those songs!

The Rolling Stones were kind of famous (or infamous) at a certain time in history for what could be legitimately considered misonygistic lyrics-"under my thumb", "black girls just want to get fucked all night", "we got some Puerto Rican girls who are just dying to meet you", "when I'm trying to make some girl", I could go on and on here (also denigrated for some of their album art involving violence towards women). The question here is what is art. If you take a look at any of these lyrics on the surface they are all beyond insulting and venture into the world of misogyny but when put into some type of context might be considered a commentary on the artists themselves. Can you separate the man from the music? What about Michael Jackson? He was probably one of the most talented entertainers of the 20th century and yet in all likelyhood was also a pedophile-should he be "left alone"? Rap and Hip Hop music contains some of the most nasty lyrics you could ever imagine about women-is it simply misogynistic or a greater reflection of the artist's experience? If art evokes a reaction be it positive or negative, on that basis alone, it is successful. Oh and by the way, as a lifelong dieter, I simply cannot stand "C is for Cookie".

"Move Bitch, Get Out the Way"-traffic around here is bad enough without the guy driving up my ass on the third lane of the Beltway singing about it.

At best, it's about strippers. At worst, it's about BJs. Either way, it's disturbing to hear on the radio, especially when your kids are singing along . . . and it's a surprisingly catchy song!

And not to get all PMRC, but what the heck was this song/group doing on American Idol earlier in the year? So not appropriate for the teeny bopper crowd!! Ugh.

Gosh. I loved that song when it came out. I think I was 13? I had no idea that's what it was about, until just now. I was envisioning something like a bunch of cool new-wave/punk London teenagers spinning records (Richie Cunningham style) in someone's den.

Bloody hell...

"I was just a skinny lad
Never knew no good from bad
But I knew love before I left my nursery, huh
Left alone with big fat fanny
She was such a naughty nanny
Heap big woman you made a bad boy out of me
Hey hey! "

Queen

FYI in England a fanny isn't a bottom.

Something like:

"We'll put a boot in your ass, it's the American Way"

Angry American by Toby Keith

Come to think of it, the whole song really sucks.

You're thinking of the original song by Dead or Alive - a 1980's hit about seeing someone in a club you want to hook up with. Flo'Rida does his own thing with it.

It's about cheating on a spouse, not having sex with a minor.
