She could be saying the wife is so foul she attracts bugs. Or it was mean't as a helpful aid to keep pests away like her own husband. Of course either one would be a negative toward the cheating husband.

I think your friend is being extremly passive - aggressive by sleuthing around, finding the app, and then deleting it?

If you're gonna go through the time & energy to find out if he's cheating, why not CONFRONT him with it?

It sounds like they have a huge lack of communication in their marriage (which ultimately may be one of the reasons he cheat ed with the OW). If that's the case, doing nothing isn't going to help mend their marriage, they need to get into counseling stat.

You should let your friend know that *IF* a lack of communication is one of the reasons he cheated on her, it's only a matter of time before he does it again either with the OW or someone else.

That yearning to connect with someone on an intimate level just doesn't go away, it grows stronger.

I agree, she should have confronted him. Not delete that app. I would have left it there, and monitored it to get the proof. I would have gotten the OW's address, gone over there confronting both of them. That way he can't lie. Cheating is not because there is a lack of communication, nor would it be a valid reason. IMO it's been a pattern of behavior he's had early in his life with other relationships. She should have paid attention to that, and not have married the creep.

You are likely right, he will do it again. I've told her this. Mainly I want to know why OW sent her bug zappers, that's just too weird!
